And sure you've beaten Barca...but Ronaldo would bully them boys. Bale would out run them. Griezmann's finishing is too good. So is Suarez's

Three of those players are generational cornerstones. Outside of Hazard are ANY of the player for Chelski right now (it may be Kante before its all over as well) truly transcendent player? Nope.
:manny:)

Dude, Ronaldo has never dominated Chelsea. Chelsea always had him quiet. When he was asked which is the hardest defender he played against. He says "Ashley cole". Ashley Cole always had him in his pocket.

Ronaldo wouldnt be scoring as much every season if he was in the EPL. Check the stats of his goal scoring record in the premeirship & when he moved to La Liga.

Only European team that has dominated Chelsea has been PSG. For some reason they always get us. Barcelona we have matched them, Bayern we have matched them.

Our squad is not the best but we do well to get the best out of the players we have. Our new formation gets the best out of so called average players. Before Champions league season next year do have to invest in defenders to compete

Chelsea do have more than Harzard, we got Willian & Costa, Courtois, The new style of play has brought the best out of average players like Fabregas, Pedro, Alsonso, LuizMoses etc

PSG fans heckled players, damaged cars after loss to Barcelona - club

ESPN FC's Jonathan Johnson reacts to PSG's massive capitulation at the hands of Barcelona, and what their next step is.
Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed reports of an incident at Le Bourget Airport in the early hours of Thursday morning following the team's return to the French capital after their UEFA Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona.

Unai Emery's men were astonishingly beaten 6-1 at Camp Nou as the Spanish giants completed an improbable 6-5 aggregate victory, which prompted angry scenes when the squad touched down in Paris at around 5 a.m. CET.

A group of irate fans waited for the players and heckled them as they tried to leave the airport.

"These individuals verbally insulted the players before vandalising their cars," read an official PSG communiqué. "Several vehicles were damaged.

"In this extremely hostile and aggressive climate, all vehicles were escorted to ensure the safe passage of the players, their families and club staff members. One individual was struck by a car trying to escape the crowd that was physically threatening the players and their families."

The Ligue 1 giants then confirmed that "a police investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened" and stressed their "readiness" to help figure out exactly what happened.

PSG improbably had a 4-0 first-leg lead overturned at Barcelona on Wednesday.
Veteran midfielder Thiago Motta, who did not feature in either leg of the Champions League last-16 clash, was recorded on video bumping into one of the supporters present in his car.

The Italy international's agent, Alessandro Canovi, confirmed to Le Parisien that his client was confronted as he tried to make his escape but denied any intent to run the fan over.

"Thiago was stopped," explained Canovi. "His wife was by his side and supporters were beating on the roof and the sides of the car.

"He wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. He moved forward but did not feel like he ran the fan over. If he did hit someone, we are sorry but it has not been proven."

Canovi also confirmed that after the fan threatened to press charges, Motta got in touch in an attempt to smooth things over.

PSG's ultras, the Paris Ultras Collective (CUP)also moved to distance themselves and their members from the issue and emphasised their solidarity toward their club "through the good times and the bad."

Verratti: PSG ask fans for forgiveness

14890478070538.jpg

Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League exit will be a tough one to overcome for both the players and the fans, while the team's midfielder Marco Verratti apologised to the supporters after the match.

He admitted to feeling embarrassed and upset, echoing the generally distraught mood from within the Parisian camp.

"I feel ashamed," the Italian said in the mixed zone after the game.

"We ask for the fans' forgiveness.

"We're obviously very sad."

Discussing the way the match unfolded and the Ligue 1 champions' approach, Verratti detailed just how hard it was for him and his teammates.

"It was Barcelona who forced us to play deep," he explained.

"We knew that all of the Barcelona players are better than us.

"The only thing we had to do was to play as a team and to play united.

"It's never easy at the Camp Nou and it's difficult to cover all of the space."

As for the officiating, Verratti did not seek to blame the referee Deniz Aytekin for his side's failures.

"There were two penalties given against us," he said.

"Yet we lost 6-1, so it was because of us, not because of the referee."

Verratti and co. must now turn their focus back to domestic action, where they're aiming to chase down Monaco at the top of the Ligue 1 table, with a trip to Lorient coming up this weekend.

They've made an impression on European football though:

Valencia '99-'05: 2 Champions Leagues in 3 years, 2 La Liga titles in 3 years, 1 UEFA Cup
Athletic Club: UEFA Cup runners up '77 & '12

Interesting that you vault of "facts" didn't stretch that far back....
Just follow my quotes for a couple pages and you'll see I limited the data to around 2010 on as that's when Neymar and Hazard (the original point of discussion) started to pop up. After I deaded that joke of an argument, some BPL fans couldn't take the facts and here we are.
If we do go back further you do realize this will make the BPL look worse? I didn't want to make this a stomp of an argument. I've even declined to use Balon d'or placements and FIFpro XI as imo those are popularity contests. There is much more ammunition as to why La Liga is better than BPL than vice-versa don't kid yourself. I've simply declined to waste too much time.

Even if we were to go by this hilariously ignorant notion, the big 2 teams in a league having a stranglehold on the transfer market is not a good thing..
Agreed.

What are you getting at? It's pretty obvious that players leave clubs for more money.

Neymar, for example, would never of left Brazil if Santos could offer him the same financial package as the big European clubs. Same for Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo etc..
Neymar was getting a European level wage and contract. I follow the Brasilerao, and I'm a Santos FC fan.
They had to shut down the futsal team and the woman's team to pay Neymar's new wages.

Don't kid yourself, Chelsea would easily compete for the La Liga title, season in season out. As with City..

Chelsea is not easily competing for La Liga 4th place is the best they can get.

No, I'm saying it because cup competitions cannot be used to determine how good one team is over another.

Only the league can do that..
Clearly a league format would work better, though it would only prove my point tbh. But The Champions League is the only time those teams will ever actually meet so we are forced to use the most elite club competition in the world to compare the world's most elite football clubs.

But you said every player signed by La Liga teams (read: Real/Barca) from Premier League are of the highest quality? Which is it?.
There are exceptions and there is the rule. You're smart enough to figure out which is which.

Torres and Mata at the time were the hottest thing in Spanish football when they signed for Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.
Costa tore up La Liga the season Chelsea signed him

Also, why did Fabregas leave Barcelona and go to Arsenal? Surely fiestas, sangrias on the beach and hot Spainsh birds should have been enough to keep him at the Nou Camp, no?.

Torres I can give you, the premiership > La Liga in mid 00's. But that isn't what time period the argument is based on. Moot point.
Mata and Silva? They were not the best, that was during Pep's Barca. Everyone was too busy dikkriding TikiTaka to care.
Fabregas left because of limited opportunity. i.e Barca didn't need him.

Because football, unlike other sports, isn't played on a spreadsheet.
Using anecdotal evidence that isn't backed by data is not acceptable for this argument.
Using numbers, data, facts, sources and player quotes (which I and others have done multiple times) is how a proper argument is supposed to be presented.

No one has yet to give the data that say's BPL > La Liga.

Competition doesn't always equal better quality. The Brasilerao is more competitive than all the top 5 European leagues but Palmeiras going to get relegated playing in La Liga.

La Liga is better than BPL full stop.

The thing is I like skysports. Yeah, there is bias but that's inevitable. Their analysts are top class and often know what they are talking about.
Martin Tyler's voice has been a stabilizing factor in my life for many a years.
But the BPL wanking is just :hhh:

True, I generally enjoy they're coverage when they're discussing domestic English football, they know they're stuff. :ehh:

It's just they're contractually obliged ignorance to the rest of the world that annoys me.

For instance as a scot and a fan of Scottish football specifically Celtic, they consistently get basic facts such as names, teams and player goal totals wrong. It's annoying and disrespectful. :martin:

Speaking of Celtic, Dembele is killing it for you guys, keeps scoring against rangers too.
Think you'll be able to keep him this summer?

I think we'll keep him for the next season at least before we have to worry, the lad has really taken to the league and seems to love the city.

Love the kid, fukking goal machine, great touch, very clever forward, fast, strong, hardworking, the perfect lone striker. and we have griffiths off the bench scoring as well, plus Sinclair and the rest of the bhoys.:ohlawd:

Brendan and the payers have been fantastic. :whew:

after downloading and a rewatch.
Neymar didn't dominate or anything he had more dives than created chances, but he is part of the 3 last goals he deserves the MOTM.
you can see Messi let him take the PK when he approaches Neymar, a really good teammate spirit
Messi was not invisible especially in the 2nd half, he created chances for Neymar who instead fall and Arda. well the last penaly was a pass from Messi from across the half line
the tactics of Lucho of 3313 was actually good it opens up both sides of Neymar and specially Rafinha
u can see Arda attacking that side a lot in the 2nd half, just imagine if that's Messi on that position.
PSG choke badly in that last GOAL, everyone ball watching..
