Either they’re completely tone deaf or they’re trying to position themselves as the fan favorite for the DT’s of the football world.
Manchester United did the opposite, tried to have it both ways and ended up getting shyt on from every direction. They wanted to bring him back but still be the good guys. So now they not only lost the player on the pitch and tanked his value but also got all the negative PR backlash they would've received by bringing him back.
