I noticed no City fans said anything about that handball. Anyone else and they would be crying that they're the most hated team bring held back by the FA/premier league/ country. :mjlol:

I commented on it. Richarlison was offsidd before it.

But do your thing

WCQ of Russia is completely over the top. What is the precedent for this and why are Russian footballers answerable for their country's policies?

Basically European countries can decide overnight that neutrality in international competition is dead. Can list any war you want in the past three decades and through it all, all sides were able to compete in international competition. No one even remotely discussed WCQ ban for the US in 2003. Hell, even in middle of Cold War, USSR was not banned from competition.

If this stands, and Russia is essentially eliminated from World Cup because of refusal of these guys to play them, it will destroy international competition for a long time. You can see reciprocal refusals being used for all sorts of political and diplomatic reasons, if FIFA allows this to stand.

Lol what kind of shyt is that

Penalising the national team is one thing as they represent the country, are run by the Russian FA etc

Punishing privately owned clubs for the actions of their govt :patrice:
Its outrageous and will come back to bite the people being politically expedient and bowing to the mob.

I dont NT should be banned either. We have zero precedent for this. Between this and the Qatar boycott talks before it, Euros are trying to set the grounds for football world where its only acceptable to compete and host World Cups in Western Europe and North America.

There's no doubt that there would have been several candidates for disqualification if we set this rule for everyone, but just because football hasn't done the right thing in the past it doesn't mean it shouldn't now.

And if you really think the owners of Russian clubs don't have links to the government in some way :dead:

Meh I think it’s fair for the Russian national team to not play in the WC and it’s also fair to not have games over there :manny:

and it’s Russia, why y’all so pressed to defend their soccer team :comeon:

Now that Russian club disqualification is more iffy, they should play on neutral ground

Its shortsighted and arbitrary and will not be applied with any level of consistency in the future.

Either you accept that international athletic competition is a goal on itself, and will by definition involve countries with unsavoury governments, or you limit yourself to the Western Democracy World Cup or whatever else meets the litmus test for the boycotting countries involved.
