That's not what I'm doing at all tho. I countered his argument by saying that I have an opinion of my own. No way do I think I'm an expert in boxing. I'm always willing to learn more regardless of my experience.

The problem in this place is two fold:

1. Mayweather fans are usually not fans of the science and couldn't tell you the difference between a right Hook and a straight.

2. You never see these dudes in here until AFTER a Mayweather event. And they're usually parading around here like they just won the fight.

Floyd has the worst stans by far. :snoop:

True... Do you not agree that if he had chose to use his legs more often that it would have been easy ? I'm not implying that he purposely got beat up in the opening rounds, that would be ridiculous. What i'm saying is I think it was well within his power to make the fight boring and less debatable. Do you think Chino made Floyd earn the rounds that he won, or did Floyd ultimately lose rounds away trying to prove a point that he just couldn't prove?

I know the terms winning and losing are all semantics but I think they have relevance here.

That's the thing, I don't think he could move much. He took some serious body shots from Chino. And as much as people want to believe he let Maidana out him on the ropes, I think it was the other way around. He did a very good job of forcing Floyd to the ropes.

So what do you think about Rds 7 and on in which Floyd was able to hang on the ropes, counter-punch, then move to his left. I will admit that he didn't seem to have his legs under him that night. Floyd had been digging into Chinos body up until then, you think Floyd gassed Chino just enough so he would be able to fight the way he wants to fight in the later rounds?

Floyd did say he's not looking to run from him...Maybe he really tried to stay in-front of Chino until he realized that it was a losing strategy. The things that he's said leading up to the fight and what happened in the ring are consistent with that theory.

Of course i'm not taking anything away from Maidana. He proved what many suspected, that if you can maintain a high workrate with Floyd you will create problems for him.

I'm not at all saying that Floyd is superman. I'm just saying from what I saw it looked like a close fight that didn't need to be as close. He came in with a game plan and even a few people on this board predicted a stoppage if Floyd decided to let his hands go.

Turns out if he stands in-front of Chino he's not going to get the opportunity to let his hands go, and trading with him is the last thing he wants to do. Floyd found that out in those opening rounds (props to chino again). That's why I think Floyd washes him in a rematch.

I think he did enough. Floyd was delivering some pretty serious body shots himself. I think that helped keep Chino off of him later in the fight.

The problem with thinking that Floyd had the chance to dictate the fight that much is looking at Chino walk straight thru a lot of his punches. And as efficient as Floyd had been throughout his career, I don't recall watching him miss as much, which is crazy becuz he was still pretty damn efficient.

He threw a left hook in the late stages of the fight that was so far off that I questioned his stamina. There was another point in maybe round 8 or some shyt where he was tryna slide away but he just didn't seem to have his legs.

l did notice this early on, he was walking through things to create opportunities for offense. An admirable approach when you're against someone who will beat you on scoring.

Yeah you're probably right about Floyd's stamina late in the rounds. I doubt he felt good at all with those body shots he ate in the beginning i'm sure the two cheap shots (especially the second one) took its toll as well. I guess whether or not Floyd could have ran in the beginning can only be left to speculation. We'll never really know if he tried a strategy that didn't work and by the time he realized that he'd already taken some damage OR if he just didn't have his legs that night in general and had to chop Chino down to slow his pace.

Usually from what I've seen throughout the years when Floyd swings like that its because he's been hurt or has to land some shots to steal the round. Both of those were probably true that night

Yeah, Floyd fought the first 5 rounds with Roger's gameplan in mind:heh:

That was the WHOLE reason he linked back up with his dad as his full-time trainer, to make sure he doesnt get hit like he did in the Cotto fight.

Once he started listening, he took over the fight:manny:

Luckily, he didnt wait til the 9th round to listen or Maidana would've won

In the post fight Floyd acknowledged the importance of his fathers advice

I think what happened really is Floyd hurt his hand and was in pain
I remember his father telling him the corner to dig deep

I also think he hurt his hand. In an interview with Roger, Roger says Floyd told him he couldn't hit the pads hard during the prefight warmup

Where are these rounds people were giving to El Chino? Honestly the first 1 to 5 rounds were tight fair enough, Mayweather controlled the rest of the fight though. Guys were making it sound like the whole fight was tight, the 117-111 score wasn't that crazy looking at it.
