True... Do you not agree that if he had chose to use his legs more often that it would have been easy ? I'm not implying that he purposely got beat up in the opening rounds, that would be ridiculous. What i'm saying is I think it was well within his power to make the fight boring and less debatable. Do you think Chino made Floyd earn the rounds that he won, or did Floyd ultimately lose rounds away trying to prove a point that he just couldn't prove?

I know the terms winning and losing are all semantics but I think they have relevance here.

That's your answer.

Floyd Sr said after the fight that Floyd told him his strategy and he didnt agree with it. Says he told Floyd Jr that HIS gameplan was for Floyd Jr to keep moving and stay out of the way:

"One day, we was talking about the fight and Floyd told me what his strategy is, I told him my strategy...I personally didn't care for that rope thing...I'm just saying that Floyd shoulda been doing like I told him to do; close up, you know, and catch punches from here, here, you know, but he didn't do it tonight" - Floyd Sr.

[VIDEO] FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR. NOT A FAN OF "THAT ROPE THING"; EXPECT A DIFFERENT STRATEGY IF REMATCH HAPPENS|| FIGHTHYPE.COM

Floyd came in the fight with the mindset that he was gonna stand "toe to toe" with Maidana. He said it plenty of times:

MAYWEATHER: 'WE DON'T LOOK FOR THIS FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE'
Mayweather has all but stated that Saturday's bout will end in a knockout.

"I love accomplishing certain things. That's a part of my legacy, of course, but I don't go in there just winning this belt. I want to look impressive and I want to put on a good show and we don't look for this fight to go the distance," said Mayweather.

"Robert said that this guy is talking about looking for the knockout and I know that we're looking at the fight not going the distance, so you're going to get a helluva a fight on Saturday. I can guarantee you that."

Floyd Mayweather Jr.: Marcos Maidana fight won't go the distance - Ring TV

Once he stopped doing that (trying to prove a point), he went on to win 6 of the next 7 rounds fighting in his normal "hit and dont be hit" style. I believe in the rematch, he fights the entire fight in this fashion (excessive moving and defense first), beats Maidana much clearer, and doesnt give away any more rounds to him....because that's what he was doing in the first 5 rounds. Giving them away by not doing what he's known for or what his Dad/Trainer wanted him to do.

Maidana fought his best, and did a great job roughing Floyd up and hitting him wherever he could, but anybody with boxing eyes can see there was a difference in the Floyd in the first 5 rounds and the remaining 7.

Maidana gets credit for taking FLOYD'S gameplan straight out the window (the 1st 5 rounds).

I think if Alex Ariza isn't in Chino's corner I think Floyd actually stops him....

I actually put money on Floyd inside the distance knowing what his game plan was before hand.

This may sound like a stupid question but it seems to me that since Floyd can't knock guys out at 147 (and it seems he could still make 140) why not go back down to 140. I know he's comfortable at 147 and has been there for like 9 years but it seems he's s small guy just fighting bigger guys.

You can never be 100 percent sure, just an opinion. Def seems like a different fighter with Ariza in his camp. But I did know that was Floyd's game plan coming in.......

Yeah, Floyd fought the first 5 rounds with Roger's gameplan in mind:heh:

That was the WHOLE reason he linked back up with his dad as his full-time trainer, to make sure he doesnt get hit like he did in the Cotto fight.

Once he started listening, he took over the fight:manny:

Luckily, he didnt wait til the 9th round to listen or Maidana would've won

:what:
the greatest fighters who fight the best opponents while they're in their primes have losses.. but they're resume isnt questionable. Who knows what Floyds record would be if he fought a prime Shane, Cotto, Margarito, Pacquiao, Paul Williams?.. shyt I believe Floyd woulda got bodied by a Duran, Leanard, or Hearns.. But Floyd has an undefeated record and they have Ls so that means Floyds the GOAT :mjlol:
Both nikkas Ali lost to in his prime he's 2-1 against.. Both nikkas 10x better opponent than a Maidana

Floyd would win 2 out of 3 against Duran, Leonard and Hearns. Hearns is the only one that could have beat him, imo.

You still a casual bruh. I have experience and formed my own opinion. I didn't ask you to agree with it.

Breh, you calling dude a casual and then saying dumb fukking shyt is definitely making you look like the one who knows lesser.

:pacspit: @ Maidana. I can understand why Floyd doesn't want Tony Weeks as the ref. Weeks is usually pretty good. Maybe he just had a bad night.
i noticed floyd held for dear life on all of these :jawalrus:

You want to be a fighter we throwing chairs nikka :sas2:

I'm going to look at whoever said Maidana won or had it a draw like they have some type of agenda, even on the fist viewing it was a tough but CLEAR victory for Floyd. Also idk if it was the bodywork/low blows or Maidana leaning on him all fight with those extra 20lbs but this was the first time I've seen Floyd tired going into the championship rounds.

Floyd SR makes some allusions to his training not being up to par for this one in one of the fighthype videos. I don't think he was that tired as he was pulling out a lot of combinations in the 9th 10th and 11th.

No way anyone can't convince me Maidana took something to retain his stamina. Anyone else with his body type would have got tired by round 6. There were times where he did get tired but he would regain strength after a round. shyt didn't make sense to me. It actually made me look kind of stupid, because when I was at a fight party, I kept saying "wait till the 8th :jawalrus:" but he wasn't tired by the 8th :dwillhuh:

So I look lesser becuz I have my own opinion of the fight and call it a nikka that don't know shyt about boxing outside of Floyd Mayweather? fukk outta here. No one is saying Floyd lost but I don't think the he won by 5 rounds. At most 4 rounds. I still say he won 7-5.

And you look stupid becuz you probably underestimated Chino. So of the same 'dirty tactics" he was using, we used to praise Hopkins for 10 years ago. nikkas be having these agendas and be looking real stupid just to try to disagree. I'll watch the fight again this weekend and see if my opinion changes. I usually don't chsnge after a second look. But dumbass Floyd fans got me thinking this go around

I had the fight 8-4. I could see 7-5. My problem isn't that you think the fight is close. My problem is that you're parading around like your opinion is the end all be all when it isn't.
That's not what I'm doing at all tho. I countered his argument by saying that I have an opinion of my own. No way do I think I'm an expert in boxing. I'm always willing to learn more regardless of my experience.

The problem in this place is two fold:

1. Mayweather fans are usually not fans of the science and couldn't tell you the difference between a right Hook and a straight.

2. You never see these dudes in here until AFTER a Mayweather event. And they're usually parading around here like they just won the fight.

That fight was a close fight but floyd definitely won it. maidana had great defense and a really impressive jab coming into this fight. He must have worked his ass off.
