Ok this is probably my 6th viewing of the fight. The three things I'm convinced of are:

1) Floyd legs just weren't there this fight
2) Floyd mentally wasn't prepared to fight (from viewing body language)
3) He was actually fatigued for much of the fight. (I think both fighters were fatigued toward the end of the rounds). As a result, Floyd wouldn't get off first as much as he usually does.

I think he thought Maidana was a joke, not that good, and what Maidana did to Broner couldnt happen to him because he's much better........and he was wrong. He got blitzed by Maidana at the beginning of the 1st round and was unable to keep up with the pace Maidana set at the beginning of the fight. He underestimated him and by the time he realized Maidana was for real in there, luckily after the 5th round, he begin to take over the fight.

No way Floyd can stand toe to toe with Maidana like he thought he could and when he finally abandoned that strategy, he won 6 of the next 7 rounds imo.

Keeping a bigger man off of you is work enough, keeping a bigger man doing MMA hammer fists is something else.

:dwillhuh: Only a few of those matches where immediate rematches though and Sugar Ray Leonard and Hagler only fought once!

and if the Johnson and Jeffries your talking about are Jack Johnson and James Jefferies they also only fought once!

nah
i just dont think he expected all that foul play
and i no for damn sure he aint expect tony weeks to allow it
cant see floyd underestimating any opponent and he made there was no indication of that in the buildup to the fight

and i also think that miss jackson shyt threw him off
i no shyt never effected him before, but he at times during the fight it just seemed like he was going through the motions
plus all the retirement talk, he might be losing his love for the sport

his reaction after the announcement was weird and this was the first time (correct me if im wrong) that he never thanked god for the victory.
dats always the first thing he says after the fight

something clicked into his head midway through the fight and he got zoned in like he usually does

I feel you but check my james Toney highlights he'd counter & knock nikkas out I wish money May would just follow up everyonce in awhile.

Im just saying some of those fukking counters should be knockouts Im not understanding if the boxers Can't see the punches why do they NEVER go down anymore? He eneds to stop fighting middleweights all the damn time. Fight boxers his actual weight.

Floyd doesnt have that type of power to just KO people breh.

He's fighting people at his own weight class (147)....he just cant KO them. His last KO was Ricky Hatton who was brought UP to 147 to fight Floyd from 140. No coincidence that was his last KO:sas1:

Since he moved up from Lightweight 10 years ago, he only has 4 KO's since then (Bruseles, Mitchell, Hatton, & Ortiz):sas2:
