The way Spain releases the ball a split second before a challenge just completely discombobulates you. You can see them hold the ball inviting you to think you can dispossess them and start a counter and boop your entire line is fukked.

Spain are just too good on the ball
Rodrigo gets the plaudits but I think Ruiz ability to carry the ball under pressure in the middle of the pitch just sucks the life out of the opponent.
Formation wise, England should have had an advantage in midfield but Spain move in and out of space so well and play themselves out of tight spaces, even under pressure.
Spain's combination play at the edge of the box in the 2nd half was incredible, no team can live with that sort of one touch passing, should have scored more.
If you watch la liga, you know about Zubimendi's ability, the English pundits got a bit too excited with Rodri coming off. Any spanish midfielder who makes the squad is technically gifted, that's the bare minimum in Spain.
The Wingers were great as usual, Yamal changed the game and created the first goal when he started floating inside more. Nico Williams finish was very difficult.
Fully deserved Spain win

The England problem remains. Have never produced deep lying midfielders who can take the ball from defenders and manage pressure and turn and make key passes. Mainoo is good and has potential but other countries churn out loads of players who can do it. Rice can’t do it at all and Bellingham tried to but his technique not reliable enough. He lost the ball a few times in very risky situations.
I feel English youth set up always deprioritises ball playing CMs. Rice is fantastic at what he does and has been brilliant for Arsenal this season but arteta knows his game isn’t taking the ball under pressure and making a forward pass. Ancelotti learnt early on Bellingham has some incredible attributes but running a game in CM isn’t one of them.
Secondly, England seriously need a GK that can pass.
