I feel English youth set up always deprioritises ball playing CMs. Rice is fantastic at what he does and has been brilliant for Arsenal this season but arteta knows his game isn’t taking the ball under pressure and making a forward pass. Secondly, England seriously need a GK that can pass.

When it went 1-1 England didn’t change up quickly enough. They either needed to try and go for the kill or sit very deep and get to ET. Instead didn’t stick or twist and kinda fell in the middle with acres between midfield with defence going deep but MF still pushing on.

The correct substitution should've been Palmer for Foden
