I chose money and career, over less money and better social life.

If I were to do it again, I'd choose ATL.

I do know two DC natives and DC Transplants that moved from DC to ATL, they both came back.
DC in a heartbeat
That is 3 out of 4 choosing DC over Atlanta. Can you expound on why, possibly.

I feel like most transplants end up moving back regardless of the city.

Both go because Atlanta is the new Black Mecca (sorry DC and NY)
Dudes go for the females and get burnt out.
Chicks go to meet someone, and realize all of the competition

The lure of ATL is primarily social. And if you don't get into a friend group or meet a romantic partner - it's just as lonely/boring as everywhere else is on the planet.

Thanks. My prior experience with both cities led me to hold the view that in terms of transportation, general demeanor of the region, and public infrastructure & education, D.C would be the better selection. Cost of living has changed since I have visited each city so the pay disparity may not be worth it, even though Georgia is supposedly a cheaper place to live and a single childless male earning low six figures.
