Bump. Got SA and Kenya in about 2 months. Will post my pics and experience afterwards.
I’m surprised this thread isn’t as big as I thought it would be
No you wouldnt, I know a white Canadian academic who has been there for the past two years with few issues. As with any state with pockets of instability Im sure you gotta know locals, do your research, plan etc but its not a hellhole.Mali is my DREAM country to visit. Beautiful music, culture, people, food and HISTORY. But I would most likely get my head cut off by Islamic radicals and yet I still am tempted to go.
@LordCashmere @The Odum of Ala Igbo @Karbaash @Dip is this wise or nah?
Where in Kenya?Bump. Got SA and Kenya in about 2 months. Will post my pics and experience afterwards.

Thats good to hear. But note... I wanna venture into the North especially Timbuktu where the heart of the instability is.No you wouldnt, I know a white Canadian academic who has been there for the past two years with few issues. That's a good look you going for a vacation? Where in SA?
Jo'burg for SA. Was contemplating Jo'Burg and Cape Town but with only 1 week I think I'd short change myself, especially with all the traveling. Also, while Cape Town is beautiful, I don't care to be around the type if you catch my drift. Jo'Burg is supposed to be the blacker of the 2 Although not as black as Durban, but Durban seems more like the place for a 2nd or 3rd trip to SA, not the first.
Thing is, people are telling me the crime in Jo'Burg is wild. Even as a Nigerian I'm quite surprised. Jo'Burg is up there with Venezuela, El Salvador, Guatemala etc when it comes to crime.
I'm not worried but more so intrigued as to why it's so bad. Will definitely keep on my toes and such. I'm really really excited.

Jo'Burg has crime issues. All the homes are like barracks, high as hell with barb wires on top. Don't talk on the phone while walking or leave it in plain sight in a car or talk on the phone at a red light. You know the country's weather is actually the reverse of North America. It's actually summer temperatures right now while if you go in June, it's cold. Just use common sense you will be alright.
