Mali is my DREAM country to visit. Beautiful music, culture, people, food and HISTORY. But I would most likely get my head cut off by Islamic radicals and yet I still am tempted to go.

Depends where you go. I'd say Bamako is safe but, of course, it's susceptible to terrorist attacks. I'd claim that anywhere in Northern Mali (Timbuktu) might be too dangerous to visit for the time being. But if you're a dark-skinned black person - you might fit in...visually, at least.

Nothing similar about Senegal and Mali imo. Or else I would have BEEN considered Senegal. You need to look up on why people loved Malian culture, history and their festivals before shyt went down hill in 2012...

There were a country
both are Francophone and Muslim
Both have Mande and Fulani peoples
both are successor states to the Mali and Ghana empires
but your right i don't know enough about those countries

Just saying...

1. Mali is MUCH more diverse in ethnic groups than Senegal.
2. The BULK of the Mali empire was in Mali and heck even the capital and the GREATEST cities were in Mali(Timbuktu). Senegal while apart of the empire was mostly outside the great sphere of influence. Ghana Empire was never apart of modern Senegal.
3. Senegal does not have Djenne or Timbuktu two cities I badly wanna visit.
4. Senegal does not have the Dogon people.
5. Senegal does not have a rich musical blues culture like Mali.
6. Mali mud architecture>Senegal.
7. Historic tourism(which I LOVE) in Mali is on a different level than Senegal's. To me personally its almost up their with Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
8. Most of the people in Senegal are not Manda but Wolof.
9. Mali is "less modern" than Senegal which is what I like.
10. The bulk of the Niger river is in Mali.

Those are just SOME of the reasons. People like Mali and Senegal for different reason. For Mali the history(because the country is like a living museum) and for Senegal the food, the way the people dress/fashion, beaches, nightlife, etc. I have disagreements with this cat but he said not all Mali was dangerous.

When I'm more financially stable and have time I would love to travel and visit Accra, Ghana and Mali to meet the Dogon tribe there.Maybe Benin or Togo because I heard that's were Hoodoo, Vodou, Santeria etc all have roots in(Also because those two countries were my highest African DNA from ancestry) All of this is down the line in the future though.

My good friend and co-worker is from Abidjan. It's beautiful and well built from his perspective growing up. You have to know French tho. It's more developed than Accra to some extent.

If it wasn't for my summer internship, I would've traveled there and dude would show me futher around.
