I actually kind of liked the "grit" of Jo'Burg. I'm really not a fan of overly clean cities tbh. I kinda like cities that a little rough on the edges. I disliked Singapore for this every fact. Overly sanitized. Amsterdam is probably the only city that I give a pass but only because of the unique/quaint feeling of the city. DC is also getting a bit too sanitized for my liking.

Lagos, NYC, Jo'Burg, London. My favorite cities by a long mile.

I've heard Cape Town is absolutely gorgeous so I will hit it up the next time I'm out there, but best believe 80% of my time will be in Jo'Burg.

In the words of the Zimbabwean uber driver that picked me up when I landed in Jo'Burg "That place is baaaazzziiinnn!"

No lies told....Cape Town is a beautiful city but I prefer to be in Joburg

Get a car for Jo'Burg or just use Ubers?

Gotta get at these Jozi chicks lol.

Also, Durban vs CT? What's the vibe like in each place?

Uber all the way. Cape is a bit too snooty for me but I love the vibe. Durban is cool but I really never kicked it like that there. Mostly went to the beach to clear my head and hit up a few spots

I'm split between CT and Durban for the 2nd city to visit when I head back down to Jozi. CT is like a must, but like you said, for blacks, may be too snooty. I feel Durban will be cool too, but not as cosmopolitan as say Jozi or CT.

Uber that cheap there? When I was there I had a car...I remember the city being really spread out.

City’s spread out no doubt, but Uber is quite cheap. I did have to use the Gautrain on my way to Pretoria.

Some night moves are just way easier with a car. But then you got the whole where to park issue and car jackings as well.

Still on the fence. If I go on a super lavish trip, then I might cop a car. If more of a regular ball out trip then I may just uber around and get a central spot around Rosebank

Yep. Depends on the exchange rate. I use to Gautrain it everywhere then hop in Uber until it was too late for the train. Wonder if they're still gonna extend it to soweto like I kept hearing

My dream trip is Tanzania but Im gonna have to save up A LOT of bread. Plus I know Im gonna need some shots. That trip is on hold. Reason why I say Tanzania is ginna be expensive(outside of plane tickets/shots) because while the cost of living is cheap, I wanna do A LOT of things in that country from visiting Kilwa, Safari, club hopping, scuba diving, visiting Zanzibar, etc, etc, etc.

Still debating SA in for April/May vs September.

If only SA had year-round warm weather like Kenya or Nigeria. Their Fall is quite mild, but I'd still prefer to go when warm. Last time I went (early April) they were gearing up for Fall but it was still pretty enjoyable. Late April or Mid-May shouldn't be too bad.

September is when their spring get's kicking.

Very soon I'll have set my foundation in the US so I can shift my base to the African continent on a more permanent basis.

Yea their Summer is our Winter (East Coast US) but I have December locked for Nigeria and Ghana. Idk if I wanna wait till September for SA. Might pull the trigger on that May trip. We'll see.

Jo'Burg actually gets quite chilly so I don't know how the activity will be down there. I imagine it wouldn't be too different that Fall in a Northeastern US city (NYC, Philly, DC, etc)
