wait, so.....

Solomon Grundy showed up, beat up two lite superman level folks, knocked one into a mini-statue of liberty and broke it in half....

Batman shows up, judo tosses Grundy, then knocks him out by putting his foot on his throat!? :mjlol:

"I don't even trust Alfred." :mjlol:

"It's not impossible. It's Batman." :mjlol:

Get this Batfag masturbation material all the fukk the way the fukk outta here! :laff::laff::laff::laff::laff:
I'm a hardcore Batman stan but the way they're making Batman out to be is ridiculous. Reading the late silver age, bronze age, and up to the mid 90's Batman is totally different Batman than this prep time/I can take on the whole Justice League by myself/ etc Batman we got now is stupid.

What's this title about?

Imagine if Bruce Wayne never became Batman, but still got the money and the training.

Now, imagine he hated rich people and the greedy corporations they run.

I meant to bring it up a few weeks ago, cause I LOOOVE :noah: the fake "expensive product" ads they have in the books.

I got all the respect for Morrison's JLA in the world, man.

But His first take on Batman RUINED the character (along with the fans). I'll admit his whole "Ultra prepared human chilling with The Gods" thing was cool in the 90s.

But that, along with Batman's media push during the time when he was the only DC property popping made it where folks didn't know when to quit.

I've read a bunch of Morrison interviews and essays where he talks about real obscure esoteric shyt like shaping reality with his writings via magic encoded in his works....

If you wanna get paranoid and start believing him., look at Batman now and contrast Batman prior to Morrison's run on JLA.

I kinda feel like he tried to undo it with his Batman series run, but it was 10+ years too late.

I may be wrong, but I look at this and see nothing but Valiant's "Eternal Warrior"

But yall already got Thor's Hammer and Roht or whatever's Hammer from that Universe where only the UNWORTHY can wield it floating around :laff:

At this point Marvel-- I don't have a fitting analogy for Marvel.

I hate to be "that guy", but it's magick, not magic. Morrison practices magick. But I don't think that's what happened, what simply happened was that Morrison unknowingly created the perfect excuse for DC to push Batman as hard as Marvel was pushing Wolverine down our throats because that characterization broke any restraints the character had from being used on every level.

Marvel is WWE at this point. They just keep throwing shyt on the wall making shyt up ignoring any sort of continuity outside of really random-ass moments as they chase short term plans aimed at social media awareness. It's not supposed to be good, it's just supposed to make you buy the book, even if it's eight #1 issues of the same damn character in a two year span.

That's another thing that annoyed me. I always liked Wolverine and reading how Claremont and others wrote him in the late 70's up to the early 90's until now you can see the difference. He had a fast healing factor but it wasn't to the point that he was some type of god. He could still get taken out. He was getting knocked out when the story permitted. Hell Magneto knocked him out when he made him punch himself in their second or third encounter for goodness sake:heh:

Now you got this dude able to survive a nuclear explosion, grow limbs, can walk from Asia to America underwater able to survive, etc. Plus having him not know his past and his memories being false added some intrigue to his character.

That isn't new...Batman has been winning fist-fights with Grundy for years. I think the two most recent examples were in the Batman/Superman series and in Long Halloween or Dark Victory (can't remember which). Grundy used to lose in hand to hand rumbles with non-powered JSA members like Wildcat and Dr. Mid-Nite all the time too.
I think it was in Starman where James Robinson tried to explain Grundy's inconsistent power/strength by saying that every time Grundy resurrected he came back at a different power level and intelligence.

What I'm getting is that Tom King's run is trying to lampshade/parody/deconstruct that very thing though. Gordon's role so far is of the straight man, watching everything and commenting, "Of course Batman's gonna do some dumb shyt and, survive :francis:"

Gotham and Gotham girl are meant to drive home the point that, for as overpowered as Batman is written, he's not a metahuman, and there's only so much he can realistically do. So scenes like Batman landing that plane or taking out Grundy with a judo flip are just meant to point out how ridiculous Batman's power levels are.
