I like Tom King but two issues in his Batman is kind of a dud. It's all over the place tonally (at its worst the book is terribly tongue-in-cheek) and he seems to try and go for some Morrison-type pacing of 'go with the flow, things happen because I say so' except it's nowhere as smooth

Yeah, I haven't enjoyed his 3 issues on this so far. I'll probably be dropping this with the news of the upcoming crossover

Image books really are best read in trades. Souther b*stards is so dope, I'm patiently waiting for the next trade:ohlawd:
Bendis should fukk off with his unsubtle Rhodey replacement character :beli:.

The owner of the comic shop I go to was basically begging me to add DC shyt to my list last week. Are the really doing that bad?:lupe:

Southern b*stards is so fukking dope ..I heard it was picked up for a series on FX network.

I haven't read issue 2 yet, but like I said before, the scene from issue 1 where
Batman is trying to land the plane and asks Alfred, "Is this a good death? Would mom and dad be proud?"
fell flat because that's supposed to be a really emotional moment, but it wasn't earned. I was surprised how many people liked that scene because it didn't work at all in the context of the story, especially in the first issue, during a pretty uninteresting conflict.

Between the two Batman books, Detective Comics is much better. I'm loving the team aspect (and it helps that I'm a big fan of Stephanie Brown and Tim Drake), and it's had some great character development, which is James Tynion IV's strong suit.

Them announcing the new Iron chick before Civil War ends reminds me of how they had the final issue of "Siege" come out before the tie ins.
