It's just a kitschy crossover, not unlike Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong or Godzilla vs Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

It's not in continuity. I promise you don't have to read it. 🙏🏿

the predator vs wolverine crossover is pretty harmless. its just wolverine vs a yautja battle to the death.. noone remembers except for logan himself. and it end with those two. xenomorphs are a bit different and crossing them over with the avengers is overkill. especially conisdering the brood already exist and are far more destructive than the xenomorphs and xenos wont exist as we know them for centuries. theres plenty of crazy crossovers(justice league vs godzilla, jl, vs masters of the universe, avengers vs attack on titan,) but this is a weak one. gremlins vs the avengers would be more interesting than weak hive mind aliens that work best in stealth situations and have no personal means of interstellar travel fight against characters that outclass them in every single way. to me its just a weak crossover done because disney has the rights to alien and wants to do something with them in marvel space

Hickman’s problem is as good as he rights his original IP’s just don’t have Mass Appeal. G.O.D.S ain’t hitting. The Best original he ever made in my opinion was the Manhattan projects and lowkey getting the movie/tv rights to estates of everyone involved would be a bytch. Fiction or not.

I think East of West was damn good. Just a little unfocused.

A different take on Hickman's problem is that when he does get free reign to let his grand ideas cook with his original IPs, he overcooks until he either gets distracted with a shiny new IP, and/or just loses interest in finishing the story proper. East of West comes to mind, goat-level storytelling for years, fairly popular for an original IP, only to end on a meh note.

Not completely on him (apparently the artist went through health problems) but 8 years and we're still waiting for the final issues of Black Monday Murders.

I was talking on a black panther discord and some cat said that Blade's pacing was such a because it wasn't supposed to last long. Where as this has to be paced to lead up to the big fight with the Maker probably. So it's slowed down. I'll agree the book started hot and then cooled almost immediately.

These two posters in the CBR BP thread summarized my thoughts regarding the solo:

(snippets)

With a fresh start, good artwork and potentially great storytelling... Whoa, this is disappointing. Ultimate Black Panther is three issues deep and Hill maintains the status-quo of T'Challa's truncated genius, absent skill set, reduced powers and negligible strategic capabilities. Not to mention the penchant for having T'Challa lectured on his privilege and lack of geopolitical understanding remains unabated and without purpose.

If Hill wanted a slow burn he wouldn't have killed T'Chaka in the first issue. He should have used these first three issues to world build on the mythology of Wakanda and the mystique of T'Challa the Black Panther; invested in the relationship of T'Challa and Okoye. Instead Hill creates some one and done lore that only Killmonger and Storm know. Makes Shuri a boss. Puts the Black Panther and the Dora Milaje in a sexless marriage and to add insult to injury Hill gives The Most Dangerous Man Alive a defective BP armor.

and

Look, I am not even saying the story is bad. I have my complaints about somethings, but I am still interested in the story.

WHat I am not interested in is waiting 6 months go to, "oh wait it was a good story! yay finally!"

If your financial model is based on pre buying and pulling single issues... then you have to make each single issue worth the money.

And this isn't so far. It may be a great trade... but then I'll just wait til the trade lol?

This ties into one of Hickman's strengths, in that he knows how to tell lengthy, overarching stories while having you very much engaged and energized with each step of the journey. T'Challa getting packed up by bokam haram nyggas rocking dollar store m16s in issue #2? We gotta do better than that for $4.99 an issue.

I think that this is the issue. You put your A Team on a comic that most people don't care about. Just seems a little strange and maybe even a bit of a waste.

Maybe they just thought it'd be fun. :manny:
Maybe they can make shyt interesting.

I honestly have no clue why anyone would be upset about a new book with a stellar team. If the book sucks or is mediocre, then by all means complain and shyt all over it. But holy fukk, it's just been announced :dead:

The only people I could understand dreading this announcement are hardcore Alien stans because you know Hickman is gonna come up with new lore and retcon shyt to fit his big idea(s) so anyone that's defensive about that kind of thing regarding xenomorphs will probably hate what he comes up with :pachaha:

A Mississippi Cotton Field

At least Ribic's not gonna have to do facial expressions for the xenomorphs :lolbron:

I wonder what kind of made up mumbo jumbo Hickman gonna introduce to Aliens lore :ohlawd: :feedme:

:ohhh: Last time xenomorphs crossed over with a superhero universe it was WildCATS/Aliens by Warren Ellis.

The xenomorphs basically wiped Stormwatch out, setting the stage for The Authority.

All this after he got packed up by some primordial castlevania end boss chick. So he had to go to Dracula for some PEDs and hyperbolic time chamber training. Honestly the best book Blade has ever had. Very well written story to date.

So... who's beating Blade in a fair one? :ohhh:

Only the cheat code types and above like Susan, Wanda, etc?

I'm not a comic book purist so I'm interested on what brehs thought about Ultimate Spider #4 and the decision to
make Harry do the "great responsibility" speech to Peter.

I loved the issue btw. I'm just curious on the reaction because that type of things can make some fans go crazy :pachaha:

Little May hating on Jonah was :mjlol:

Did it feel like this was a dinner two couples who want to participate in swinging would have? I'm not a swinger so swinger brehs can correct me but this shyt was odd.

Good issue though.
