Ultimate Spidey #2. Peter being a moron was :mjlol: but made sense. Someone in his 30's learning a completely new job like being a hero would require some obvious growing pains, lol. Also, we need more Ben and Jonah.

Rise of the Powers of X#2 kept the sense of the story being all over the place. Like I've said before, Gillen's writing makes it worth your time and to keep reading but he dowright said he'll explain what the fukk is going on in his other books that are coming up in the next few weeks. That's ok I guess, but this whole story feels too damn big and going so fast that having key tie-ins releasing weeks after the book makes this whole thing continue to feel like a mess more than anything else :dead:

Yea, I got the sense that we are speeding to wrap up this era, and it's taking away from the story. The concept is extremely dense/confusing and they're not giving the reader enough to digest and make sense of it all.

It's kind of shocking tbh, they literally had 3 years to figure this out -and supposedly they had this all mapped out after Hickman left- and yet the schedule and number of books needed to close this whole thing out is like they were taken by surprise :smh:

At the end of the day, all the talk about the X-Line wanting to keep playing with Krakoa ending up with 3 years and a disappointing finale instead of letting Hickman finish his own idea in 2 years will be judged pretty harshly, I think. And I'm saying this as someone who enjoyed a lot of what was done before Fall of X.

The Krakoan era started off with interesting themes, but if we're being honest, alot of the concepts either fell flat or weren't fully fleshed out.

With the exception of Sword, X-Men Red, Immortal and Hellions, everything in this era either was mediocre or uninspiring.

Moira's turn was handled with the subtlety of a Saturday, morning cartoon.

Orchis was never fully fleshed out as a credible threat and it took loads of PIS, for the Krakoa to not eliminate them from the break.

Alot of interesting character dynamics were left underdeveloped or not explored at all. You've had characters who've been trying to kill each other for decades and all of a sudden everyone just played nice for the sake of the plot.

Yeah, the concepts they were able to be fleshed out in a satisfying manner have been Arakko (expansion to Mars included), the Quiet Council, imo the Children of the Vault (Synch included on that one), and for a while at least, Krakoa as a nation. The rest is mixed bag of either underdeveloped stuff or uninspiring second hand takes to what Hickman initially presented (Dominion, Moira, Krakoa's prision, Orchis, Doug, etc.), a lot of it has revealed itself in Fall of X, which was the time to start closing some stories up and we've ended up with a lot bleh (or downright bad) stuff.

I do blame editorial for rushing this ending but then again, they had three fukking years to prepare and all we are left with is Gillen and Ewing doing what they can to at least make their stuff be good reads.

To call a spade a spade: Hickman gave them a gold mine concept but instead of letting the man bring it to whatever natural/organic conclusion, they respectfully told him to kick rocks so they could milk it until it became a caricature of itself.

rise of x, fall of x, power of x, way of x, reign of x, legion of x, trials of x, pawg of x, etc.

The Moira thing was probably the biggest travesty because Hickman made the character an overnight sensation with nuance and revamped lore, only for editorial to throw all that care and handling in the dumpster.
