X-Men in Alaska

In the title simply known as X-Men, a team consisting of Cyclops, Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Kid Omega, Temper (formerly known as Oya), Magik, and Juggernaut will be based in Alaska. For Cyclops, it's been his home twice before - it's where he was born, and also where he went after he quit the X-Men for a time in an attempt to lead a normal life - and now it's where he and his team will be based as they reach out to struggling mutants to try to help them.

X-Men in New Orleans, Louisianna

In the longest-running X-Men title, Uncanny X-Men, a team comprised of Rogue, Gambit, Nightcrawler, Jubilee, and Wolverine will be headquartered in the Big Easy. For Gambit, it's the town he's eternally linked to, if you can't tell from his French-Cajun accent... and now it'll be the home ground for a team that executive editor Tom Brevoort promises will put mutants back at the center of the wider Marvel Universe.

X-Men in Chicago, Illinois

Although you wouldn't know it, Emma Frost has strong ties to Chicago - her former company Frost International was based here - as does Kate Pryde, who went to school at the University of Chicago after leaving the X-Men. As it happens, Exceptional X-Men writer Eve L. Ewing also is based in the city, and her new series centers around both Kate and Emma as teachers for several new mutants including ones named Bronze, Axo, and Melee.

These three titles begin rolling out July 10, with each having monthly comic books by September.

While I think the general consensus is that the Krakoan era did not live up to its full potential, the premise was fresh and innovative. I'm not sure I can go back to reading straight up super hero X-Men antics again. It seems like a regression imo.

There's so much untapped potential from a story telling standpoint that has been left on the board with the Krakoan era.

I'll give this a shot but I'm not overly excited.

No way were they going to give her a flagship book or roster. I'm actually surprised they didn't throw Storm in there since Storm's a black woman and she's a black woman :pachaha:

What did the Coli think about Ultimate X-Men #1 and Ultimate Black Panther #2?

UBP #2 was a regression imo. UBP #1 was a near perfect palette cleanse, but #2 seems to be flirting with the same tropes that have long since plagued the 616 and MCU versions.

T'Challa talks a good game but still hasn't done anything to back it up.
  • Too much emphasis on him needing Shuri's tech to wipe out the bad guys
  • CIS with the whole "oh there's a mole among us but let me go solo on a recon mission"
  • Him getting subdued by gun fire while in his suit
  • Him needing to get saved by Storm
  • The whole on-the-nose reveal of "the woman of light"... meh. Nobody wants that shyt romance plaguing this book.
It's still early enough but after Coates and Ridley i have a shorter leash when it comes to the bullshyt. Issue #3 will be a decision point for me.

With, UXM #1, i only skimmed through it... but i don't necessary agree with what i assume will be a slow rollout/reveal of the more prominent characters? I think they should've followed along the lines of USM #1 and UBP #1 and started with a palette cleanse featuring some of their more prolific characters (and top knotch artwork) upfront. But i guess time will tell.

Haven't read Black Panther yet but Ultimate X-Men was basically a manga written in western comic format. I liked it but I have no clue if there's gonna be enough sales for Momoko to cook and do the very slow burn this seems to be aimed for. I do :salute: them for letting her do her thing and let it sink or swim.
