I enjoyed Rise of the Powers of X too. Good week of comics
Yeah, waaaay better than the Duggan book. It did kinda feel like Gillen cosplaying as Hickman a little too much but R.B Silva's art was outstanding and this issue did feel like a follow up to Inferno at least.

ultimate Spiderman was fukking great.
he’s the ultimate because he wanted to become Spiderman on his own volition. no death of uncle Ben to fuel just his own innate good nature. Love that mj and uncle Ben gave him the blessing

They finally giving Blade the power up i said he needed about 20 years ago lol

He a vampire, no reason he shouldn't be doing cool vampire shyt.

Lookin like he'll scale to one of those high end Castlevania vamps by the end of this run.

All this after he got packed up by some primordial castlevania end boss chick. So he had to go to Dracula for some PEDs and hyperbolic time chamber training. Honestly the best book Blade has ever had. Very well written story to date.

1. that X men book. We DO know that's Charles, right. Enigma, I mean.

2. Ultimate Spiderman was one of the most perfect comic books I've ever read. Y'all know I LOVE me some Hickman. Dude prolly my GOAT behind Warren Ellis.

THIS was the most.... human? Human story I've ever seen him do. Every other Hickman story, it's like you're watching over God's shoulder while he moves around pieces. Looking at things from the top down. A very meticulous tapestry of individual threads getting woven for your amusement.

THIS was eye level and human. VERY human. A street level Hickman. Who woulda thunk it. Ben and Jonah, Pete VERY MUCH embodying "unfulfilled life but smiling through the day to day motions", the interplay with his kids, MJ......

hell, I may turn that panel of MJ sipping wine into a poster.

i dont know how, but ult spider man somehow felt both fresh and nostalgic its like all the suffering that spider man fans had to endure was just for this feelgood moment of a potential life pete could have had. happy family life, seemingly good work situation. i could read a straight up parker family book written like this. then im reminded this is a spider man and shyt could get even more tragic

I think even Hickman realized he could get away with a 6-12 issue mini of a Ben-Jonah book if he wanted to. It took just 1 damn page for me (and it seems a lot of fans) to completely buy that relationship and be compelled to read more. Peter saying "you two should your own TV show" was a pretty evident wink by the writer.

And yeah, I would've never guessed the 2024 version of Hickman could pulled a more grounded and sentimental book (though he did show a little bit of that with the Synch/Laura relationship in X-Men). I just hope he stays in this path and doesn't insert the Maker/Iron-Lad/Ultimates bigger story in this Spiderman book, keep that shyt elsewhere and let the new Peter cook.

Read the first issue of Ultimate Spider-Man #1

The last time I read anything was when Hickman wrote House/Powers of X

This was great. Im excited to see where this goes.

Are the other Ultimate (X-Men/Black Panther) books going to be connected to this one? I know they have different writers. I’m just curious.

They are all connected because of what happened in Ultimate Universe #1 (and the set up of that world, that is in the pages of the mostly bland Ultimate Invasion, both written by Hickman).

My guess is that they'll let Spidey, BP and X-Men cook for 3-6 issues before forming the Ultimates and dealing with the bigger plot that Hickman established in UU#1 and Ultimate Invasion.

Not sure if they'll make a new book for that or they'll do a crossover that happens in the pages of the 3 books.
