Dark Web in a nutshell:

Madelyne Pryor and Ben Reilly: "We want our memories back and we'll terrorize New York City until you eat this magical fruit to get them! :demonic:"

Jean Grey: ":what:. Madelyne, I'm an omega-level telepath. I can give you your memories back in two seconds. All you had to do was ask. :why:"

Madelyne: ":ohhh:."

Ben: "What about me tho? :lupe:"

Madelyne: ":dahell:. What about you? I got my memories back. fukk you. :camby:"

Ben: "B-b-but the fruit! :sadcam:"

Peter: "You really thought I was gonna eat that? This whole plan was stupid AF. :heh:"

Ben: ":mjcry:."

:trash:.

im not a ben reilly fan, but i definetely get why theyre pissed off. on top of maddie not suffering ANY repercussions for her actions. like ben could have done any of that shyt by himself

I was just gonna ask this thread if anyone was reading I Am Batman. I just started vol 1 and it's decent so for for me. However judging from the recent responses, it looks like it doesn't get much better 😞
Had I Am Batman ended with the Dark Crisis tie-ins, it would have been decent. Those issues actually had some good character development for Jace and his place in the larger DCU.

The last three issues are a fukking abomination, and undermine everything he just learned in Dark Crisis.

Not only did Ridley irreparably damage a prominent black family in comics, and turn a black father into an adulterous predator, but it's not even consistent with the way Jace was written prior to his car accident. Jace was much closer with Tanya than Lucius, but by the end of the run they have no relationship anymore, meanwhile Jace is romanticizing his birth mother that he didn't know existed two issues prior and who never made an effort to have a relationship with him.

And really, if you were gonna do this, was it really that hard to make the birth mother another black woman? Elena Aoki has to have the WOAT genes for an Asian in history. Every Blasian I've ever seen looks  very Asian in the face, just with darker skin. Every single image of Jace has had him drawn with black facial features and black hair. None of this makes any sense unless he was around no other black people in his life. He never ran into a chick or an auntie who was like, "Ooh you must be mixed with something. You got that good hair. :usure:"

Then again, maybe Asians in the DCU just have :trash: genes in general. Wally West's kids are half-korean but his daughter looks like goddamn Pippi Longstocking.

I'm good on John Ridley doing anymore Big Two comics. Between this and Black Panther you could argue that he has some sort of resentment towards black men that he's trying to let out in his books. :trash:

I take back everything bad I ever said about Nick Spencer's Spider-Man run.

It had its ups and downs, but at least it felt like he was trying when it counts. Zeb Wells' run is actively insulting the reader's intelligence. :unimpressed:

I'm giving it until the end of the next arc before I decide to drop it. Hopefully they actually give a decent answer the mystery this whole run has been hinging on, that they haven't even addressed in almost a year. :trash:
I liked Spencer's run. Most importantly, he was having fun with it. I hate this current Spidey run, and dropped it like 2 issues ago.
Anyone reading the current Gargoyles run on DYNAMITE? The first 3 issues are legit :dwillhuh:
Yup. It's my favorite cartoon of All-Time, I have scattered issues of the SLG Comics, so I'm happy it's continuing. It has been great so far.

The AGE OF MONSTERS has begun, and the only being who can stop a legion of the world’s most depraved creatures from overtaking the Marvel Universe is the INCREDIBLE HULK! Enter this horror-fueled new era of the strongest there is when writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Nic Klein relaunch INCREDIBLE HULK this June!

Known for his acclaimed horror storytelling in titles like Alien and Marvel Zombies: Resurrection, Johnson will take Bruce Banner to sinister new depths when a war of monsters erupts with Hulk at its center. The pair will also explore Bruce Banner’s psychological state, left in shambles at the end of his latest run with Bruce and the Hulk’s relationship more fractured than ever. Fans will experience a vicious hunt as Hulk is made prey by brand-new monster characters as well as classic favorites, all united in a fiendish new scheme…

As an enraged Hulk tries to take control of Bruce Banner’s body permanently, a mysterious immortal turns every monster in the Marvel Universe against Banner in an attempt to free their creator, the primordial Mother of Horrors. I read in a recent interview that Ridley made Jace half Asian because his son is half Asian. Not a good reason for the retcon, but I understand wanting to make a character that's like one of your kids. Part of reason we got Miles and Riri is because Bendis has a black daughter. However, Ridley could have just created a half Black-half Asian sidekick for Jace.

Yeah, I'm not mad at Ridley at all for wanting to make a Blasian hero for his son, but this was the trashiest way he could have possibly done it. Not only did he ruin a black family in the process, but this retcon is really gross and doesn't endear anybody to Jace.

Really, what Blasian kid is gonna look at this and go, ":ohhh:. Wow, this Jace Fox character is just like me! My father also cheated on his wife and took advantage of my mother when he was her boss, and I, too, didn't know about my biological mother's existence until a criminal held her for ransom! 😍"

What's worse is that both Dark Crisis and Lazarus Planet were right there. Dark Crisis had heroes like Red Canary stepping up after the Justice League was presumed dead. Lazarus Planet introduced a bunch of new metahumans after the Lazarus Island explosion. I'm sure Ridley already had this in mind before those were conceived, but he couldn't have pivoted and introduced a new Blasian hero during either of those events? A new character would have been way better received too.

I have been mad about this shyt all week. 😡

Really bummed Adams is off Flash, but this sounds interesting.

Si Spurrier and Mike Deodato Jr. on Flash? :leon:

Tom King on Wonder Woman? :patrice:

Daniel Sampere might have to do another carry job on art.
I'm probably a bit of a Tom King apologist but the description for the new Wonder Woman series sound cool:

After a mysterious Amazonian is accused of mass murder, the U.S. Congress passes The Amazon Safety Act, barring all Amazons from American soil. To carry out its new law, the government sets up the Amazon Extradition Entity (AXE) task force to remove those who don’t comply by any means necessary. In her search for the truth behind the killing, Wonder Woman now finds herself an outlaw in the world she once swore to protect.

And Sampere looks to be doing awesome work on it:
