I haven't read Other History of the DC Universe yet, but this discussion reminds of this old madtv skit where the Justice League had all the black heroes meeting in a broom closet, and would only call on them to pick up their laundry or go on suicide missions to see how tough the villains were.

I just read The Other History of the DC Universe and it's a really good issue. I really liked how Black Lightning's perception of John Stewart, the JL, and even his own responsibilities changed over the years.

You ever read that issue of Justice League of America?
The JLA was on some (especially The Flash) and you could tell that an out of touch middle-aged white guy wrote it.

Dwayne McDuffie (RIP) and Bruce Timm are national treasures on what they did for DC as a whole. As well as making Static Shock into a cartoon that lasted 4 seasons.

Was X of Swords worth it? I dropped it 1 issue into them entering the arena.

Batman and Catmwoman was weird.

Batman was trash. Why do they keep brining out new people in his past? This doesn't make his more appealing.
