They keep using Wakanda as a plot device to show how powerful threats are, not realize that they're basically telling white supremacist stories where white people have to come in and save black folks.
The closest we've ever come to seeing a Black hero be THE hero of a major event was Black Panther during Secret Wars and Reed still ended up being the one who ultimately defeated Doom.
