Anybody care to share some tips about Osaka , Japan or the country In general ? Heading there soon for a little over a week
The religion part has nothing to do with it. Its overrated because it's all fake and no authenticity. It's all tall buildings, malls, no real local culture. I enjoyed the desert stuff like atvs and night time dinner in the desert. I liked the tea time at that sail looking 7 star hotel, that was an amazing experience. I really liked the Pakistanis and Indian restaurants, super cheap. The Lebanese food is amazing and cheap. The malls are just everything wrong with consumerism but that's just me. The fish tank at the Dubai mall is incredible just a sight to behold. That what everybody say sadly. Literally everybody say it.
I hate to come off ass ignorant but I’m not a fan of strict Muslim society shyt no place for a person like me for multiple reasons. Too much extra shyt to worry about.
I’m going for 3days to check it out not expecting too much I was just trying to see if anybody got Dubai fun cheat sheet. But I’m just content with doing some sight seeing, eating, and relaxing.
I'll be back over there around around beginning of August if I can finish a grant RFP before the deadline.Anybody care to share some tips about Osaka , Japan or the country In general ? Heading there soon for a little over a week
Don't know if you've already booked but you can't go wrong with either. Two different atmospheres, stating the obvious : Amsterdam is northern-europe, Lisbon southern. So it depends what you're looking for. I loved Lisbon because it's really laid-back, lots of culture, sunny of course, lots of street-art, cheap, good food, sea nearby, old school houses and streets, etc. No doubt one of my best trips these past years. There's an afro community in Lisbon obviously, but the one in Amsterdam might be more visible/established. If you've already been to London and Paris (I live in Paris, and totally understand why people would not like it so much lol) seeing Lisbon will be a different experience. Amsterdam too, but less imo. Language-wise I think the Dutch speak better english than the Portuguese but the younger Portuguese speak it quite well.

If you adventurous there's sky diving.

I'll be a little south of you. Even if you don't speak Japanese, many places have directions and menus in English.
Learn a couple of directional and conversational phrases and you should be good. You going for vacay?
I'm visiting some friends and family. Gonna be lit!
Y’all fukking with Dubai or what
It's alright. I enjoyed myself because I like relaxing getaways and don't really plan on doing too much. Would I go back? No.
3 days is enough to visit Dubai and see everything. My family and I stayed 6 days around Eid and it was very vibrant. If you go around religious holidays, everything will be open during the day and everything is open later.
Places to see:
Dubai Mall; same area as the Burj (highest building), the fountain, and center of downtown.
Old Dubai/Creek; the oldest part of the city, Souks everywhere, small vendors, and cultural food.
Abu Dhabi; 30-40 minute drive/ ride from Dubai. See the mosque and palace hotel. I don't remember the dress requirements for men, but glancing through my pictures, I don't think men have a dress code. If you are traveling with a woman, make sure she gets her abaya or covering before she gets there. They give you one if you don't. I didn't trust it.
Places to see if you want to waste time or have extra time
The Palm; its just hotels and the large hotel. All you can see is take pictures of it. You can't go inside unless you are eating there.
Burj al Arab: you can see it from most places in Dubai. Boat shaped hotel. It has a beach in front of it.
If you are looking for Emirati food, I can't help you with that. My mother doesn't eat foreign local food because of health concerns so we stuck to chains or high-end restaurants. Like the other poster said, if you are in the tourist areas, you probably won't see local food. You gotta kinda find it.
@mbewane
no disrespect to paris
I just found it extremely overrated like once I did all the tourist stuff I was like what else. While London there was so much to do so much to see and its such a easy city to get around.
Dope. I'll be in Rome next week.Like I have said before, I need to make more use of being in Europe as so close living in London - keep going states or Toronto lol. I had a ton of air miles with BA so booked a quick trip to Rome for the weekend.
Great city, lots of history, food and wine of course the best.
Sistine chapel is amazing, TV doesn't do it justice, still amazes me the level of detail in the art work during the Renaissance period
Can see where Virgil gets a lot of inspiration for some of the T Shirts he designs
