This, if you’re worried about acceptance abroad then those are the best. Discover gives great lines of credit for subpar scores but acceptance isn’t as wide as visa/master. You can forget about Amex abroad as well unless you are staying in a g20 country.

We like our Sapphire preferred since we have a line of $20k with them and the perks are great but you said you can’t bank with Chase. Our quicksilver cards are “ok” but the lines are on the lower end between $5-7k and all they give is cashback, the wife’s venture card is shyt and we’ve been looking to cancel that one out for a while.

Ive been debating leaving AMEX and getting the Chase Joint since its comparable in many areas but Ive been with Amex close to a decade so idk

Upgrade to platinum and get centurion lounge access. That is my one and only regret the whole time we travelled is that we had to pay $50 for lounge access on my blue everyday card to get in.

I'm thinking about going to LA but haven't been before. I'm scouting areas to stay but it's obviously really spread out. Are there any good 'central' locations to stay or does where you stay depend on what your plans are? Also, should I get a rental or just uber? I heard ubers are cheap out there :feedme:

Def get a rental. Stay at the Venice Suites ON the beach, it’s beautiful there. You could walk to Santa Monica pier if you’re fit enough. Hit up Griffith observatory, now is a good time of year for Disneyland, hit up mockingbird bistro for the pancakes, Stella Barr’s pizzeria for a swanky date night.

Got a business trip to Israel coming up, very hyped to get to that region. I should be out there every 2-3 months, so I’m planning to tack on Jordan, Lebanon, UAE, Bahrain, Oman, and Turkey to later trips out there.

Also going to confirm with my manager if we’re going to Korea next year :win:

Felt at home in Morocco, don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want to at least travel to Northern Africa where it’s developed nearly as well as Europe.
I went in 2016...I feel at home in Northern Africa (well a lot of countries due to my color lol) as well. Morocco, Brazil, Cuba, and Egypt are three places where I felt wholly embraced.

@dora_da_destroyer you know anything about Bali?:jbhmm:
i went in 2015. maybe i had the wrong concept of bali, but i didn't love it. i guess i was thinking more eat pray love...the remote spiritual, buddhist type bali, when it's really Australia's Cancun, and to that point, even making the adjustment for that, the beaches, at least in the SE where most tourists visit, weren't all that. but it wasn't all bad, great food, coffee, and people.

c/s the rental. the LA area is an area you drive. you could do uber if you really just plan on staying in LA proper, but if you're trying to see beverly hills, Santa monica, downtown, ventura, etc. hitting hotwire for a good deal on a rental is the way to go.
