First photos from the TRAIN TO BUSAN follow-up film, PENINSULA

Korean director Yeon Sang-ho doesn’t think it’s quite right to call Peninsula “an official sequel” to his zombie thriller Train To Busan, which became an international hit in 2016.

“It takes place four years after Train To Busan, in the same universe, but it doesn’t continue the story and has different characters,” says the filmmaker. “Government authority has been decimated after the zombie outbreak in Korea, and there is nothing left except the geographical traits of the location – which is why the film is called Peninsula.”

The follow-up stars Gang Dong-won, who has featured in local hits such as 1987: When The Day Comes, as Jung-seok, a former soldier who manages to escape from the Korean peninsula – a zombie-infested wasteland turned into a ghetto by other nations trying to stop the spread of the virus.

Sent back with a crew on a mission to retrieve something, he goes in through the port of Incheon to reach Seoul and comes under attack, discovering there are more non-infected survivors left on the peninsula.

Actress Lee Jung-hyun (The Battleship Island) plays one of the survivors, alongside child actress Lee Re – whom Yeon thinks will become “more [popular] than Ma Dong-seok [aka Don Lee] in Train To Busan”.

Other cast include Kwon Hae-hyo, who was a voice actor in Yeon’s award-winning 2013 animation The Fake; Kim Min-jae, who appeared in his 2018 live-action film Psychokinesis; indie filmmaker and actor Koo Kyo-hwan (Maggie); and child actress Lee Ye Won.

Several Train To Busan alumni are working on Yeon’s $16m follow-up (almost twice the budget of the $8.5m original), among them cinematographer Lee Hyung-deok, visual effects supervisor Jung Hwang-su and art director Lee Mok-won.

“The scale of Peninsula can’t compare to Train To Busan, it makes it look like an independent film,” says Yeon. “Train To Busan was a high-concept film shot in narrow spaces whereas Peninsula has a much wider scope of movement.”

Yeah it is. Especially when you’re getting it for the first time. There’s so much on there for not much $. The only thing is that they don’t add big stuff very often, so unless you’re a horror head that wants to see all kinds of obscure stuff, you may not wanna keep it long term.

PORNO
CvgGZ7B.jpg

Four repressed, religious teens and a straight-edge projectionist working at a small-town movie theater in the 1990s discover a secret screening room filled with vintage X-rated exploitation films. Playing one of the old film reels unleashes a succubus named Lilith, who attempts to seduce each of them to steal their souls.
Porno invades your homes on VOD platforms May 8th with a Blu-ray release set for July 14.

This movie has been getting a lot of hype in them horror streets. Shocked they didn't move up its streaming and Blu-Ray release dates since we are all on lockdown for the foreseeable future.

About to check out As Above So Below. Have heard good things from horror fans

not a fan. hope you like it more than I did, which is to say, I hope you like it

I was off on a weekday doing nothing special so I went to check out a matinee of As Above So Below...was in the theater and the trailers were just ending when I got a text about an emergency at work so I had to leave right before the movie started.

When I was thinking about going back to see it that same weekend I talked to some folks who had already seen it and they were laughing talking about how they wish they had got called into work before they sat and watched that movie.:russ:

Still haven't seen it to this day.:hubie:

THE WRETCHED
ngQlRUs.jpg

Following his parents’ separation, a rebellious teenage boy, Ben, is sent to live with his father for the summer and work at the local marina in order to gain some form of discipline. The idyllic tourist town offers little solace for him, however, as he is forced to deal with the local, privileged teens and his father’s new girlfriend. Ben’s problems grow increasingly disturbing when he makes a chilling discovery about the family renting the house next door.
A malevolent spirit from the woods has taken a hold of the parents and starts playing a sinister game of house, preying upon the children and wiping away any trace of their existence. Ben’s suspicions of the supernatural horrors go unheeded and he launches a perilous crusade in order to put an end to the skin-walking witch’s reign of terror.
THE WRETCHED stars John-Paul Howard (“Hell or High Water”), Piper Curda (I Didn’t Do It), Azie Tesfai (“Supergirl”), and Kevin Bigley (Netflix’s “Upload”) and is written & directed by Brett and Drew Pierce (Deadheads).
THE WRETCHED comes to digital platforms and VOD on May 1st, 2020.

You won’t find the original Friday the 13th movies streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime, but we learned this week that the majority of the franchise is soon headed to Shudder!

Jason Takes Shudder as the streaming service presents the first eight films in one of the most beloved and successful franchises in horror history on April 1st, 2020.

That includes the original classic straight through Jason Takes Manhattan.

If that’s not enough, go behind the scenes with documentaries Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th and Smoke and Mirrors: The Story of Tom Savini.

To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story comes to Shudder on April 27th.

Shudder’s Friday the 13th Collection arrives just in time for the franchise’s 40th anniversary, which will be celebrated later this year with a brand new 12-film Blu-ray set.

New members can use the code SHUTIN for a 30-day free trial of Shudder.

The First 8 Films in the ‘Friday the 13th’ Franchise Slashing Their Way to Shudder in April!

James Wan's MALIGNANT was set for an August 14th release date but has now been removed from the WB movie release schedule completely with no new release date.
