Twitter has lost its mind with these Black Christmas reviews- they are trending on my timeline.
It’s that serious. They turned this movie into a gender war..
Carpenter is better tho
What did you think about it?Halfway through the movie doctor sleep by far.

I didn’t realize there were different versions based on region?? But I don’t think that..That Lighthouse movie gave me the creeps and a real uneasy vibe - I didn’t watch the recently released US film, I only partially watched the U.K. version. The man was trying to be intimate (and I’m trying to use that term in the loosest way possible .. ughhh) with some creature - took a real weird turn, I don’t think that I’m going to finish it. I stopped at that part, Like wtf am I watching. Was there a similar scene in the U.S. release? I’m not even going near that movie if there is.
oh ok. That's what I thought, that's a hard pass on that one. Something about that just freaks me out.I didn’t realize there were different versions based on region?? But I don’t think that..
He fukks a mermaid in real life lmao. I’m pretty sure it’s just part of his dreams. They do a pretty good job of staying ambiguous between his hallucinations and reality
I agree with that. I’ve read two reviews by men, older men at that, who thoroughly enjoyed it tho so I don’t think we as men, or an older man, are incapable of judging it fairly based on our tastes. But I do think you have a point about culture of a movie and how that might affect the reviewer.I feel you. I think this movie was made for certain people as all movies are. I think the wrong people are seeing and reviewing this film. Tbh this was a movie made for women by women. I think women the movie was made do should be the only reviewers.
Carpenter is better tho
shhhh
Understandable. I felt that way about captain marvel . I'd like to know your thoughts.I agree with that. If there are things in this movie purely for women and purely aimed at women, then there are no doubt things in it I won’t get or I’ll miss despite how much I might try. And that’s not a problem, but it’s a fact and an observation. I can’t see all the nuances and subtleties. I might see some of them but not all because it would be impossible for me to do it. But as a reviewer of any gender or race, your job is to empathize. If you really can’t empathize with these characters purely because you disagree with the message or because it’s “girl power” then you need to check your shyt
I definitely want to see the movie now. The Ratings and Reviews actually had the opposite effect on me. I was borderline apathetic about seeing this bc they deviated away from the original story and changed it to PG13. But now that I am reading the reviews and all the controversy, I need to see it for myself. That way, I can give yall a women's perspective about this. I probably won't have time to see it this weekend, but when I do, I'll post up. I would like to see how they implemented this with the interwoven, "female empowerment" angle. The only reservation that I have, is that I hope they didn't make it too over the top to where they are force feeding the narrative. I prefer a natural progression so I hope this is the case.I agree with that. No the Thing is why he won and cause Halloween was the first American slasher. He's an originator. No disrespect to Wes he innovated slashers. I'd say he's a bit more creative when it come to them. But we love John for a different reason. I just watched the entire Prince of Darkness and I see why some would hate it but I also know why it scared me. They Both do what they do well. No hate.
I see that yall really like rubbing things in around here.. ok, we get it already. the music score and Halloween were the primary influences as to why he won. Let's just leave it at that. Because 90% of the non-horror fans on this poll stated they like Halloween which is the most popular movie.
My issues with captain marvel had everything to do with the direction and not the characters. Loved the characters. I just think Brie and that character deserves a better movie lol. The directors just let them down. It’s not an awful flick by any means but it’s just very average and middle of the road despite the best efforts of everyone in front of the cameraUnderstandable. I felt that way about captain marvel . I'd like to know your thoughts.
right. Carpenter for my money is the greatest American horror director ever. And he’s always been more polished than Craven and more consistent. Doesn’t mean Craven is bad at all. Clearly he’s not. But I’ll take the thing, Halloween, prince of darkness, Christine, in the mouth of madness, and the fog over most of Cravens catalog outside of scream and nightmareNo the Thing is why he won and cause Halloween was the first American slasher.
