Yea I know it’s a show that’s not really in the horror category . But man I liked the first season and heard a lot of people not liking 2 as much . I get it. But as a horror lover of the sadistic included, I fukking loved this new season. It has a darkness to the games I don’t think slot of people appreciate it. The overall tone of the first might be more hopeless and the surprise factor gets you. But the games this season are a little more demented which really gives you a sense of, they are trying to up the ante with how many people they eliminate each game and they are more traumatic to me. Outside the games I get the season one favoritism. But the actual games and acting and cinematography , I give it to 2. If you like horror you should give it a real shot. fukk any review. This shyt hit different. Pulls you in
I don't get the hate for S2 at all. It was never gonna be able to duplicate season one's shock and novelty. But they managed to create a completely new and compelling roster of characters and bring back all the feeling of stakes in every game. I came in with low expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. I'm fully invested in the second-half.
I agree that it deserves some thriller/horror props. If Battle Royale can get love in horror circles, Squid Games should too IMO.
This looks like pure insanity. I'm in!
Hows Until Dawn the game? I watched the trailer for the movie and ngl I'm fukking with it. Lots of people are complaining that it isn't like the game but
I'm not invested in it. I know CAPCOM f'd with the RE Franchise and that made me mad so I understand. I did watch the George Romero RE Doc recently. I never followed the stuff before but I learned a lot. I thought they had preliminary footage from GR working on the movie but it was stuff shot for the doc and a commercial by GR for RE 2.
I get why fans of the game are mad. That looks completely different from the game, but it looks like a fire movie.
I can't recommend the game enough to fans of horror. It plays like a slasher movie, where you control the cast. Your choices determine if different characters survive or die, and you gather clues and move the plot forward as you go along. It even has a big killer reveal with motive and some added twists. This movie seems to lean into supernatural elements that are only hinted at for most of the game.
The replay mechanic in the movie is turns a game element to a plot element. You could replay scenes to save a character that died or collect extra clues which expand the plot. It looks like they found a creative way to add that in.
The game also had stars playing the roles. Hayden Panneterie and Rami Malek played lead roles, and Peter Stormare who cameos in the movie also had a unique role in the game.
