First up, I had not seen this previously. 'Late Night with the Devil' (2023) was very good, very creepy. I loved the 70's late night talk show setting, they really nailed the aesthetic and all the little integral moving pieces that used to make those shows click. This was a wild ride and the ending had me like :ohhh: and :damn: it was such an interesting concept I'm surprised nobody had attempted this before. Very good.

It's hard for me to rate anything above it as my favorite horror of this year. I've already rewatched it a few times, showing friends.

No doubt, one of my friends had been on me about watching it but I didn't get to it in October. Now I wish I had because it was pure creepy piff...

I like to bounce around a lot though. If I watch a couple newer horrors I like to then follow those up with something from the 80's or 90s etc..

Decent list, some stuff listed too low and some too high. I’m happy to see Exhuma get love because I feel like it’s not talked about enough with this year’s best horrors.

Anyone seen or heard of the girl with the needle? It’s rated so high and the image looks striking. So I’m curious now.

Many critics shyt on 'Spiral' (2021) but will you hate me if I say I liked it? It's not as good as some of the movies in the 'Saw' franchise but the traps are fairly well designed and gruesome and the ending kept me guessing to how it would play out. I'm not sure what to think about Chris Rock as the lead, you don't normally see him in many dramatic roles. I think his facial hair was throwing me off too but he did ok. The script probably needed a rework but it's not the terrible movie to me that many said it was at time of release. The one thing I will say is the connections to 'Saw' are paper thin.

I thought it was okay. Kinda middle of the pack for Saw movies. I didn't love the ending, but it was okay. The thing that really threw me off was Chris Rock having so many comedic quips. But the traps were definitely brutal, and I liked the concept of Jigsaw's philosophy inspiring someone who wasn't a direct student. Expanding the world beyond the John Crane and his acolyte's perspectives was a good idea, that I'd like to see taken even farther.

I'll probably start tackling some movies on this list. A few of the ones I've seen mentioned in this thread or raved about online are on here

Oh damn, Lots to unpack here with 'The First Omen' (2024). I remember being surprised that this received so many positives reviews and it had been on my watchlist for a while. 'The Omen' is one of my elite tier horror films so I'm always going to be a bit skeptical of a new entry. This ended up being really good and quite the pleasant surprise. From the open, you hit me with Tywin Lannister and I'm in. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here but much of the body horror appeared to be practical effects and got damn was there some nasty stuff in this. They didn't p*ssy out at all. I had to laugh, I know it's the 1970s but all the nuns smoking Newports made me Lol. This is all about a large scale conspiracy theory within the church and if there's two things I love it's conspiracy horror and religious horror. I felt this delivered both in spades. The acting/directing was on point. This could be a rewatchable for years to come. There were a couple nice callbacks to the original as well that I enjoyed.

@RGM
Drunk in Merida Mexico for 2 weeks
well ....Merida this week and Cozumel Mexico Next week

i Watched the Watchers Series in between binges

All four of these movies have damn near the exact same plot
smart dog, semi cute chick , bad monster -- sprinkle in some fukkery , like the dog using a computer or making phone calls
the third did take place in a jungle, though

OG Watchers (1988)

Dean R. Koontz adaptation
Michael ironside stimi
probably the best out of the series and that's not saying much
dog was cute though

watchers 2 (1990)

Bloodier than the first one , and had an evil scientist, but was pretty bad

Watchers 3 (1994)

Temu.com predator rehash
changed the creature design to a sci fi "ish" look
even though its terrible, its mildly entertaining

Watchers Reborn (1998)

How do you fukk up a flick with Mark Hammil asnd Kane Hodder???
Just watch this and it will show you how its done step by step
basically, a soft reboot- remake of the first flick and bloody
buit its terrible.

Checked out Infested from that top 25 list posted above. Saw something that said it's the best spider movie since Arachnophobia, I would say that's true. Nice watch.:ehh:

The year 3030
peeped y2k...shyt is stupid but fun

a prominent song featured is the thong song...thought that dropped in 2000 though.

there's also a wigga character and he name drops Gift of Gab, Del and soundbombing 2..his CAC raps are :russ: however

one nitpick...
they start with the main character dude signing into AOL...no way in hell his realplayer vid loads that fast and doesn't buffer when he on a 56K ass modem
