7. Don't Go in the House

A disturbed young man who was burned as a child by his sadistic mother stalks women with a flamethrower.

This is a rare case of a movie I had zero prior knowledge of, and it was fun to go into blind. The premise is pretty nuts, and the MC plays crazy really well. I had trouble believing that any character would follow him home, so his interactions always felt awkward. But every sequence that went into the voices in his head and his hallucinations hit really well. I also like the ending which adds a bit of ambiguity to the whole thing.

I made it about an hour into Spin the Bottle. That shyt was hot trash.

edit: House of Spoils was good to me up until midway through the 3rd act.

Yeah, I had the same opinion. Just ok. I completely forgot that scene was in the movie. All I remember was that big ass box. And I saw it like several months ago.

First off ....Apologies brethren.
What is online is a cut version and i did not realize that.
this movie is actually one of the 70 or so horror films deemed video nasties in the 70s and 80's in Europe.
I noticed it within the first 20 minutes , the first kill was just so cut , i was disgusted
the nudity , the fx .... (and it has great burn FX for the time) all gone...

I found my DVD that i had stored and watched it
if you can find the uncut version in the future, its definitely worth a re watch.

this is one of the 80's underrated gems
you have to suspend your logic for some of the people just walking up to get killed
but my Aunt who i got the DVD from , (she let me watch this when i was 8)
she said in the 70's and to a lesser extent in the 80's, CACS would jump in a car with anyone
but anyways
horror flicks from that time period are built different
this one , lacks dread , but makes up for it by making the killer have mental issues and showing him descend into madness ,
it keeps you guessing what this dude is gonna get up to next.
and the rate of escalation with htis guy .... damn.
and the way it ends, just leaves it wide oipen as well

I want to say this list should be way longer and accurately matching the days till we get to Halloween. Lately I’ve been getting too stoned where i fall asleep 10 mins into the movie. Movies like the salems lot from the 70s and the new VHS should be on here but I’ve fallen asleep on them both countless times lol.

The last story from Tales of the Dark Side had me dead. That gargoyle really dressed up as a human baddie and got pregnant by the artist dude lmaooo killed him when he showed her the truth. What a cruel way to go out lmaooo. Obviously this movie isn’t top of the line but it’s an older horror movie you can enjoy for what it is.

The Thing went hard. Keith David got too many classics under his acting belt.

Another reason why I’ve been slacking on horror movies is because I’ve been reading a lot of books— recently I finished the Scarlet Gospels. For those of you don’t know it’s the sequel to the Hellbound Heart (Hellraiser).

This book was published a few years ago so throw out the idea that it follows any of the Hellraiser you’ve watched.

BREHS… i wish Doug Bradley was young man… this book needs to be adapted so bad… this shyts on 95 percent of the stories in the Hellraiser series. This story is absolutely bananas. Crazy thing is it doesn’t involve Julia or Kristy.

Book 2 follows Harry D’Amour (Main character for horror film Lords of Illusion) and Pinhead. For the most part, everything wild happens in this story is because of Pinhead; he rebels all the other cenobites in his world killing everyone.

His motive is to find Luicifer, which he eventual does. To his surprise Luicifer killed himself because he misses being with God. Pinhead takes this time to steal all of Lucifer’s armor because it has a bunch of power. Pinhead angers all the demons from hell so it’s pinhead vs hell. And he’s kicking there ass until Lucifer resurrects.

Pinhead and luicifer go all out in a battle where pinhead believes he has the upper hand just for Luicifer to be like lol sike I’m just toying with you. Mannnn…. Pinhead went straight into bytch mode! He was begging and crying for mercy so much. I was so fukking shocked brehs.

After Lucifer wins the battle he decides to destroy that universe/hell and goes to New York lol. Pinhead wakes up and he’s the only cenobite left and out of nowhere a giant gust of nothing wipes that world away.

The book finishes with characters helping Harry move. One of the movers finds the puzzle box and sets off the puzzle for it to be solved. All the characters walk through the door to find nothing… literally nothing. No cenobites, no universe. It’s complete darkness and it’s how the story ends

Man this shyt would be so fire as a high budget horror film.

And oh yeah pinhead is just his nickname which he actually hates in the book. He goes by the Hell Priest

@Straw Hat Luffy that sounds crazy. I liked the Harry character from Lord of Illusions. I'd like more movies/shows of cops solving occult mysteries.

IDK how Son of Sam got all those women to get in his dusty Chevy truck(fude had twine holding his side mirrors together). The house was gorgeous. I read that people think its actually haunted but who knows.

Todd Phillips should have stole from this movie and made a Firefly film. Donny belongs in Arkham Asylum.

At the end was that supposed to be The Michael

Shoutouts to Bobby he's a real one. He tried to set him up with the better looking friend, and he took the chubby girl.
