But speaking of common monsters, I would’ve had a better time with ‘A Quiet Place’ if it wasn’t for ‘Stranger Things’. The design of the demogorgons look nearly identical to the monsters in the AQP franchise. You could make an argument of it stemming back to the Clickers from ‘The Last of Us’ too.

Imma be honest, I never watched A Quiet Place. Everytime I start I just say in my head I fukking hate Jim Halpert and watch something else :manny:

I'll get to it eventually. I'll watch The Ritual too. I might have gotten it mixed up but I watched The Relic, 90s monster film in a museum. That moster looked cool.

I Saw The TV Glow was trash.. Typical cliche'd modern artsy fartsy bullshyt. Great cinematography with close ups on actors who look and act constipated for an hour and a half. I'm about done with "experimental" horror movies.

Channel Zero Candle Cove did a similar story but much better than that.

Me too!!
Experimental using animation/stop animation & other props were terrific but today's lazy arty technology etc is lame.

I was going to watch this or The Pooh movies but decided to go with something else.

So IStTVG is a waste of time? I wanted to see it because I heard they do a parady of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer tv show.

I thought the best part of the movie was the 90's nostalgia they put in it. The show in the movie is basically one big nod to that and 90's nickelodeon shows like The Secret World of Alex Mack, Are You Afraid of the Dark, etc.

In Violent Nature was :francis:. Nature in title is not a lie. Horror casuals will hate this movie. I had people walk out the theater tonight in my viewing. Art house film goers will enjoy this. Not sure if I would recommend anybody to watch it. Basically an asmr slasher film, with really no action or thrills. There is one kill in the movie that is dope, but the movie is a slow burn for sure. Definitely take a nap before watching the movie.

Im really just waiting for the kill count to hit the net

I co-sign the character/creature designs as underwhelming and repetitive overall. The only compliment I'll give is that at least it makes unique creature designs stand out. The creature in the Ritual is dope to me, mainly because there's nothing like it. I just started Channel Zero season one, and the teeth creatures are awesome.

On that Barbarian note, I agree about Justin Long carrying the second half as a hateable character. I LOVE the first half of Barbarian, but that's all before the creature is revealed. I like it most when Georgina Campbell explores the empty house and hidden creepy rooms. Once the mystery let up, I'd probably check out mentally if not for actively rooting for Justin Long to get his just deserves.
Man, thank you for pointing me to the series that picture is from. I kept seeing it floating around on the net. I see Arkasha directed one of the seasons? You peeped that one yet? I may just have to play catch up here. Her work on The First Omen impressed me a lot.

Two creature bits that have popped out to me in a big way over the past decade: The body morphin' fukkery in 'Color Out of Space', leading up to that wild scene in the dark attic and the mutated bear in 'Annihilation', whose screams mimicked its trapped souls. Both features sharing that Lovecraftian DNA.

On the 'Barbarian' front, having Bill Skarsgård portray the red herring was a clever move with him being largely known as Pennywise. Went in blind on the flick and while I didn't think he was gonna be the film's big bad, thought he had something to do with the nefarious shyt going on in that AirBNB at the very least. They got me there. That movie got nikkas thinking twice, thrice, about a stay in those rentals if they already weren't before lol.

It seemed to please the general crowd a lot when it first came out. Wasn't that high on it personally, but it was well-directed. Krasinski's directing chops are way better than what he brings on the acting front. He's very blasé to me in that regard, no matter how many times he wants to transform himself into a serious actor. I don't know why people were campaigning so hard for him to be Reed Richards. I haven't seen that new 'IF' movie he did, and most likely never will, but if he ever tries his hand at another sci-fi/horror entry, I'm game.
