what does everyone think of this? what kind of movie would he make now? 😹
I feel a little alarmed to be told I’ve lived a lifetime because I’m not finished. I want to keep working. I want to keep learning and discovering and scaring the shyt out of myself and sometimes the shyt out of you.

I gotta get back to some of those earlier scarier movies but that’s another story for later on. As long as there’s joy in it for me and as long as my audience can find joy and other human values in my films, I’m reluctant to ever say that’s a wrap.

Would love this and I want to see him to do a strict horror film. I'm glad Kubrick checked this box off before he passed. So many of these highly accomplished directors I would be ecstatic if they dove into this genre. Notice most of them either have horror adjacent films or throw in sequences here and there with horror elements as some sort of "What if?" tease. Jaws felt like a horror film in the first half before flipping the switch to thriller in the latter half, IMO. Spielberg partially storyboarded Poltergeist but Hooper was in the director's chair at the end of the day.

Paul Thomas Anderson is another director I'd like to see one from. I can see the inspirations in some of his works, yet he chooses not to venture into the genre and it frustrates me. Don't even need their prospective horror pieces to be masterpieces, but I would like to see them dip their feet in that end of the pool before they hang things up. May also be the thing that could get this genre some overdue attention from the Academy.

@RGM
Posted in the sci fi thread as well

Canadian joint
Sci fi horror with some found footage added in spots to move the plot along (about 10 minutes of the total runtime)

its intense , but it gets dull in spots

very well acted though

My reaction watching The Outwaters through smilies.

30mins: :beli:

1hour: :francis:

20 mins later: :comeon: what am I watching…:dahell:….did this shyt turn into tentacle porn?

10 mins later: :lupe::picard::hubie:@ what happens with a shark tooth and an 🍆

Credits: :hhh::beli::wtf::picard::hubie:
The most heated I’ve been in some time after staring at a pitch black screen for what seemed like 5 minutes. :why: :dahell:

And of course the film puts its focus on the character I gave the least amount of fukks about. :mjlol:

I’m sure the movie wanted the audience to feel some type of way about dude ripping his guts out at the end but by the time it happened I was pretty much :unimpressed:

They hyped this shyt up but it felt like a film student’s attempt at being deep.

I watched a few more movies last week. I liked all of them for the most part. 2 were anthologies with some misses.

I'm not sure I watched this when I was young or I just remembered Twilight Zone episodes when they used to do marathons on holidays but I enjoyed the last 2 segments the most. The first had a good idea but was executed badly. I know about the controversy and its really sad. The second segment should be an automatic skip. The third segment is my favorite and I understand how much Joe Dante loves Looney Tunes now. THe fourth segment was great because of John Lithgow, my mans was sweaty heavy in this :mjlol:

I didn't know anything about this movie going in and I'm glad I didn't. I just knew it was leaving my streaming service so I decided to watch it without seeing the first 2 parts and I don't think it mattered.

From the beginning of this movie I knew it'd be some fukkery:russ: This movie had me laughing throughout most of it at how cheesy it was. The ninja at the beginning got so many bodies on the golf course, got shot up, and caught more bodies. I guess it was a werewolf/exorcist type of movie. I swear I saw her get asian eyes when she transformed into the ninja and had makeup to make her do that. Her apartment was nonsense. The 80s must have been tough because gangs of guys were trying to rape women in broad daylight in front of people like its nothing. Her boyfriend was almost as hairy as a werewolf.

I'll definitely watch this again.

This was some more corny goodness. I've been trying to watch Stephen King and more werewolf movies so this worked. The werewolf was getting busy. He was killing people like he was Jason Vorhees:mjlol:

The father that saw his dead son was cracking me up in this. I can tell hes a theatre actor and he was giving a perfomance like he was played by Clayface in the Harley Quinn show. I think this is the most Gary Busey I've watched and he was cracking me up to. The funniest part had to be when the towns people went looking for the killer and they got jumped by the werewolf and he stole a bat and started beating them with it:dead:

I'll definitely watch this again.

I wanted to watch another anthology movie so I watched this. John Carpenter in the wrap around wasn't doing it for me.

The first segment was alright. I don't know why a women that fine would work overnight at a gas station, that's just a recipe for disaster which it was.

The Second segment was my favorite. The actor was the dad on Titus from back in the day and I used to watch that on Fox. This was so hilarious to me especially now since I see on social media a lot of guys getting those hair transplants.

The third story was probably my least favorite. I did enjoy seeing Mark Hamill in something other than Star Wars. I still liked it I remembered all the crazy shyt he was doing when he got his eye:mjlol: His wife was like I don't want to sleep with you cause you got two different eye colors:why: If it was real life he'd be way more fukked up then that,:snoop:

That Hair storyline in Bodybags is hilarious. I didn't mind John Carpenter in the wrap around, but it was SUPER hammy for sure.

With Twilight Zone, I really liked the segment with the kid with god-like powers. I like how the movie took familiar plots and gave them big budget love. I haven't watched it since seeing Cursed explain the Vietnam plot and what went down. But I remember LOVING it and I still check the wings of planes when I fly at night because of this thing...sorta like how I hate driving behind trucks with logs because o Final Destination 2.

I love anthologies, so both of those are memorable for me. I watched Silver Bullet a while back too while peeping a bunch of Werewolf horror at once, but it fell to the middle of the pack.

Great recaps fam! I may have to peep that Ninja madness :mjlol:

Spielberg would never do it but I would love to see him take a crack at an updated version of the 1972 TV movie he directed called Something Evil.
It's an evil spirit/ghost story which is what's hot in the horror streets currently and I think it would be col to see what a seasoned Stephen Spielberg would do with this idea without the constraints of budget or TV standards and practices.
Spielberg basically storyboarded every scene of Poltergeist so he definitely has it in him to go ham with a good ghost story that was all his own.

Twilight Zone and Silver Bullet are both horror classics.

Ninja 3 always cracks me up because the premise is so goofy. The white chick from Breakin' getting possessed by a ninja spirt...that is some pure 80s nonsense right there.

All I have to say about the fukkery of Body Bags can be summed up in this gif:

I watched two Asian flicks over the weekend:

Project Wolf Hunting
Once the lab experiment dude wakes up it is like watching a survival horror game being played by someone who never played the game before because all the characters were just getting washed one after the other. That was fun enough to ignore just how thin the script was for this movie but once the real "Big Bad" shows up the movie just became really stupid. I loved all the bloody carnage though.

I give 'Project Wolf Hunting' 2.5 out of 4 Gun-Totin' Dr. Loomis'

This one is on Netflix and it was like if they tossed Happy Death Day, Edge of Tomorrow, Final Destination and any random school based anime into a blender. The premise is cool but the execution was lacking. The two things that irked me the most about this movie was that the kids were way too vapid and quick to be nonchalant about dying violently on a daily basis and the final form of the monster was some janky ass bullshyt.
I look forward to the eventual US remake that can maybe fix some of the worst aspects of this one.
