Best haunting/ghost possession movie that I’ve seen in a WHILE with no gimmicks, decent amount of scare factor, likeable characters - it’s creepy and foreboding asf.

Surrogate (2022) Review
Australian paranormal horror Surrogate, starring Kestie Morassi (Wolf Creek) and Jane Badler (TV’s ‘V’), comes to digital platforms this September. Written by Beth King and David Willing, in his feature directorial debut, Surrogate tells of Natalie Paxton (Morassi), a single mother and nurse, who falls mysteriously ill and struggles to stop her family from being destroyed.
Australian horror SURROGATE nods to the likes of THE EXORCIST, with a mother/daughter combo taking centre stage as well as having a man of age with a hat paying them a house visit, but otherwise this is very much its own beast.
A throwback to traditional old-school horror – none of that trying to pass off social commentary as entertainment nonsense here – with plenty of tension and a terrific score, David Willing’s movie proves that showing less is indeed more. It loses momentum in the final stretch, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that SURROGATE is a genuinely creepy flick that is worth checking out.

I’m at 59:03 and unlike most movies I watched of this nature- I’m hesitant to continue not bc it’s stupid or lost my interest, it’s because I don’t want to see what happens to the little mixed girl (main child actress in this) in this- she’s adorable
But curiosity for the macabre overrides my mommy mode so I guess I’m back in 🥹
