House of 1000 Corpses is....:scust:

It's like vomit on a canvas. I get what the movie is doing and it's different but Jesus Christ the editing will take you out of the movie. it's so gratuitous and self indulgent. It's a shame because the character work is great. If I never saw this movie again I'd be okay. Longest 90 minutes ever.

Same. The atmosphere makes House of 1000 Corpses a special watch for me. From the theatrical poster to its bizarre editing style, it feels like one of those schlock horror flicks that can be picked up from the back of a country gas station, lol.

that's it !
I have a great appreciation for late 60's & 70's horror and HOTC calls back to that period perfectly
My aunt used to take me to this drive in back in the mid to late 80's that showed 70's horror flicks (and karate movies) all the time when i was a kid

Don't go in the house
town that dreaded sundown
deep red
Last house on the left
I spit on on your grave
Legend of Hell house
Damn near all of them , that movie is like a love letter to that period of film making

I agree with the others that 1000 Corpses is my favorite off the atmosphere. But you can DEFINITELY see that it's Zombie's earliest work with the hard edits and loose narrative. Devil's Rejects is the better all-around movie and you can see how much RZ has grown by that point. But I have a real soft spot for House of 1000 Corpses.

The fact that HBOMax still doesn't have Tales from the Crypt on its service is downright criminal. Damn those rights issues. Luckily, I've still got the boxset though. Physical media still matters, brehs & brehettes.

That reminds, I need to pop in tftc Demon Night for old time sake,, I haven't seen it In years

It’s been 27 years since it came out and I still feel like it’s underrated as hell. You’d be surprised at how many people my age who watched TFTC back in the day who didn’t even know the movie existed until I mentioned it. I saw it was on Peacock so I may need to give it a watch soon.
