Barbarian lived up to the hype. It's definitely a "the less you know the better" kinda movie. So I'll keep my compliments and complaints as spoiler free as possible instead of doing paragraphs of plot talk...
- The soundtrack and effects are absolutely incredible.

- Everything is unpredictable. The scares are super varied, the tone shifts are abrupt, and the plot never lets you find your footing...you never know what to expect next.

- There's a bunch of tracking shots that are slow, deliberate, and immersive as hell. Shudder just dropped the first episode of their top 101 scariest moments in horror, and I think the Orphanage scene description is a really good breakdown of something that Barbarian nails in multiple scenes.

On the down side...the ending was kinda disappointingly simple. But I'm not sure anything could be satisfying after the insanity of the rest of that movie. So it's a bit of a nitpick.

Great flick...I want a week of October dedicated to the best movies from this past year. X and Barbarian are the best two by far imo.

I was pretty hype that Life Changer popped up on Shudder. I hadn't seen it before, but I remembered hearing good things. The main character is a shape shifter that absorbs people's life force...their memories, image, and all. He has to body swap because he starts to rot, and the intervals between bodies has started to get shorter. He's also hopelessly in love with a woman whose husband he absorbed once, which is a predicament when you have to kill and change bodies at decreasing intervals of time.

As a sidenote, literally all of that covers the first five minutes of this joint. It's really economical with its plot and the body snatcher POV is as cool as it sounds, while creating mess up and creepy situations. I really enjoyed it. It's such a cool idea!

I liked X, but I have to be the minority in thinking it did not deserve a prequel AND a sequel. :deadrose: Other movies take years to receive just one sequel this movie already has two new projects within the same year of its release.

------------

I watched Tusk after seeing everyone's reactions to the film.
I shouldn't have taken those edibles :gucci:.

And then I watched that Twins Peak movie right after

:gucci:

What an excellent horrible trip I went on :blessed:

Everybody talked their ish about it but watch this movie become the “most viewed” Netflix release this year as his movies usually are- everyone complains but his movies will be in the Top 10 lists
