Don’t include Rob Zombie in that category - one mistake in a certified career in horror films doesn’t define his roster of contributions.

There’s no comparison- two totally different types of films and subgenresBoth of these guys seem to be in limbo. I think they’re equals honestly, I can’t even pick a side here….especially when it comes between The Devil’s Rejects and Cabin Fever.
Haven’t seen you post here in awhile - thought you were banned. But you do need to be banned for this obvious disinformation spreadingRob trash

I agree with you in regards to the bolded, but I think we can still make a comparison in the directorial lane and when it comes to overall impact to the horror genre. I think both of these guys have two good to great films that are brought up a lot when it comes to the 2000s. Other than that? A lot of mediocrity to downright bad entries. I just can’t put one above the other right now. There’s no comparison- two totally different types of films and subgenres
You can’t compare Devil’s Rejects to Cabin Fever. One was about a virus/disease; the other was about deprived psychotic individuals/serial killers with a habit for blood thirst on a murder spree. That’s like comparing It Follows or Contracted to Friday the 13th or Hatchet. Different categories. We wouldn’t compare haunted houses or ghost story possessions to Dracula movies.
I’ve been feeling mixed on Rob since Halloween II. This def ain’t anything new, haha. Like I said before, I’ll give The Munsters a watch sometime but it seems like time is passing the man by.
Rob Zombie is on every top 10 and 25 horror director lists published in media but now y’all want to tear him down due to The Munsters trailer - miss me with that. His Halloween was the highest grossing movie but everyone acts like they hated it and it was such a travesty to the Halloween cinematic universe
Yeah I’m with you there. Really might be a while before we see success of such magnitude again. That’s okay though.
Horror seems to be in a much better place than the 2000s I gotta say though, thanks in part to Blumhouse and A24. We’re doing much better than the Platinum Dunes/Dark Castle Era. So many of these directors who are well-established or newcomers that I’m really looking forward to their upcoming projects.
Derrickson seems to have found something special in Joe Hill. Can see those two teaming up again with Cargill to make even more magic happen. Perhaps adapt more of Hill’s short stories for the big screen.
Eggers is most likely moving back into the low budget horror lane after the very mixed reception of The Northman. Really wish it was more successful, but the man shines in the horror realm.
Radio Silence crafted a fantastic love letter to Wes, and have the opportunity to mold that Scream franchise into its own baby. Curious to see how they implement more of their signature elements in the sequels.
So many other great talents like Flanagan, Bruckner, Sandberg, etc. are putting on quite the showcase. Even got established, non-horror directors like Cianfrance and Guadagnino dabbing their feet in the lane. We’re eating real good.
Feels like we’ve been in a golden age since 2010, which makes me look at Rob Zombie kinda sideways. I don’t know what’s wrong with dude. I’ll end up watching the film someday, but that trailer for The Munsters remake made The Room look like Citizen Kane.
Eli Roth>>>>>>Rob Zombie
I’ve never seen a better reason to Neg someone in this thread than right here and now- I swear to gawd.
I don’t think I’ve ever negged anyone on this thread in my entire post history. You might be the first sir
First of all, the 2000s was the most contributive era in horror - are you serious??!! Let me go fix dinner and then I’ll be back to deal with his wrongsplaining capping ass - DF!???? Paragraphs with a whole lot of nopes.
As soon as Universal dropped that Munsters theatrical trailer, execs witnessed the reception on someLootpackK
Violating . And he had just had to keep namedropping RZ, like once wasn’t enough
He’s lucky my kids gotta eat rn - something in the air tonight
My daughter took a nap after school and went to the netherworld. She woke up thinking it was tomorrow morning, ran in my room, panicking thinking that she was late for school
Now I come on this thread and see this blatant blasphemy of an attack - wtf
My found footage marathoning brought me across Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. Very similar premise to Grave Encounters, but the reality show is a youtube live stream for this one. I really enjoyed it. It feels like the creators were patient as hell. They're not afraid to take a little bit longer with a close-up on a panicked character or a just out-of-focus form in the distance that doesn't move. That patience does make the first half run a little bit longer than it might have had to, but I chalk that up to characterizing the whole cast and also giving us a lighter mood before the shyt really hits.
It's got one sequence in particular that I think is my favorite in any found footage/POV movie...I'll give it some time to see how lasting that feeling is though. Either way, there's one section of this movie that I think is genuinely scary and memorable to the max. I really enjoyed the scares once they got going.
I really liked this one:
House of 1000 Corpses was good too, IMO. Both of those directors have distinctive styles that shine on-screen, but the writing seems to be their Achilles heel.
Rooting for em but it looks like both of these dudes are about to fukk up their upcoming adaptations.
