I watched Scream 1-3 and Scream 5 last night/today and that was really fun. I like the new movie. One thing I realized after 1 and 2 back to back is that 1 had no black actors at all and 2 started with Omar Epps and Jada Pinkett who we're hood movie stars at the time. I also noticed in 3 that the producer acted a little bit too much like Harvey Weinstein, who produced the franchise until the new one:mjlol: I did miss the DIMENSION FILMS logo at the beginning.

Aight yall - after a fun filled weekend of carnivals and festivals with the family - I can finally take the deep dive into Hannibal @Jello Biafra , @BlaqkSpliffin @storyteller … I’ll be back with my thoughts - startling off scratch from ep 1 for my binge. I have some heavy ish going on at work, and 2 trial prep cases back to back for the first time in years, so I prob won’t be back posting again for at least a week or two or so - who knows. I’m stressing :sadcam:.
. Hopefully by the time I come back - new anticipated releases will have dropped by then. take care, everybody (except @ Collector bc I don’t like him) peace n luv THT, hold the thread down
:salute:
Update: I did the damn thing, if I do say so myself. I can breathe, decompress and de-stress from legal duress under distress again. 4 hour trial over- managed to help have a near 6 figure Demand basically reduced to less than $10k . No continuances, caught the plaintiff in multiple lies with counter-evidence, past 4 days of continuous fact finding, research, researched and more research- turned into a favorable outcome considering.
:sas1:
The Judge was getting annoyed with the other side - that didn’t help their case at all. :weirdo:Fumbling attorney tried to make small talk, excessive bantering and the judge hit him with “counselor you’ve been talking for 2 hours, let’s wrap this up”
:mjlol::mjlol:
Back to watching horror just in time for the weekend. I thought this case would get continued or drag on for weeks. It did not. One shot done- it’s over.
:whew:
Don’t ever let people in so-called “power positions” intimidate you when you know you’re advocating for what’s right and just.

The plaintiff looked enraged, like he wanted to decapitate his own attorney- would not be surprised if either of them ended up on a Breaking News story or the subject of a future Netflix crime documentary - the “corporate politico”
types don’t like taking Ls from those outside of their inner circle … and all that.
:ld::mjpls::mjpls:
Anyway- my “Hannibal” series watch session can resume :scheme:

Congrats on bodying the work fam! Now you get to enjoy all the goodies. Shudder added a bunch of Full Moon 90's schlock like the Puppet Master movies, Joe Bob's season started with his 100th episode, and idk how far you are into Hannibal, but you're in for a treat because it doesn't really let up. There are some WILD kills throughout.

thank you for this update, ST!!!!
I'm not that far into Hannibal - that's one of those series that I only watch when I have no distractions and can fully concentrate.
So I've been watching a lot of non-horror related content just to have something to look at while I was working like this last season of Ozark, Gaslit (Starz), and I have 2 eps left of Cruel Summer. But I'll be back on Hannibal tonight.

Is it weird that I find Hannibal's voice to be oddly hypnotic and calming??:merchant: that way he talks is like so sinister and peaceful at the same time. Like it's meant to capture a certain feeling through the tv screen with the viewers. I can't make it make sense -why am I like this?

Drag me to hell

Is such a cheesy wack ass movie:mjlol:

This shyt like a 13yr old made a movie to disgust his lil sister:mjlol:
I read somewhere that the underlying theme of the movie was really about body dysmorphic disorder or bulimia.

here it is:

She never touches food, because she is afraid it will make her fat and disgusting. According to the theory, there really isn't a scary demon from hell, she's just imagining everything. Hunger is making her irritable, she imagines the old woman's creepy hand tapping on the desk when it was really just the other banker. Early in the film she passes out in her car and drives into a bunch of other cars in the parking lot. The woman from the bank never followed her, she imagined everything.
Frightened, Christine seeks a Psychic, whose explanation of "the old woman's curse" manifests into her hallucinations. Also, the later exorcism wasn't real (hence why the boyfriend wasn't allowed to join in).
The food is a key factor in most of the hallucinations. Notice that when food is introduced on screen, Christine gets attacked by the spirit. Every time the spirit appears at her house, she is in the kitchen. When she locks the spirit outside of her room, see sees the spirit in the form of a shadow of Pig hooves.
AMS-4 says that her either purging or not eating is causes a nosebleed that "her sick mind sees as huge, as she attributes it to the curse, when deep inside she's ashamed and afraid they'll find out about her eating disorder." At night she dreams like she's being vomited onto, when it's really her who's throwing up in her bathroom. The sequence where she dreams that a fly enters her mouth and flies into her stomach is actually just her stomach growling while shes asleep. Her body needs food but she is unwilling to give in
The old woman represents everything that an bulimic anxiety – she has no teeth, is hideous, and eats/steals the candy from her desk. Notice at the woman's funeral that everyone is eating, drinking and gambling. The woman vomits on her and then shoves her arm down her throat as if taunting her to "eat, eat!" The one moment she's "forced" to eat something in the film, she finds an eye staring back at her inside the cake, causing her to choke up her food.

Lmao, I think (hope?) that's what he's meant to be able to do. The same way he lulls everyone that talks to him, he has that impact on the viewer. You can empathize with how characters like Will would fall for his charisma. There's a lot of that dichotomy. We KNOW Hannibal is a psycho, but we get how he can be convincing. By the same token, Hannibal's food preparation would be mouth-watering if we didn't realize he's using human organs and not animal proteins. There's this whole Beauty vs Grotesque thing that is WILD throughout the whole series. Plus the further you get in, the more you see what Hannibal's up to and that makes it all worth a second trip through the first couple of seasons which are my favorite of the series.

I hated Drag Me to Hell until I learned about the whole bulimia theory. I watched it again and that tracked really well. I still think it's a bit overrated by a lot of horror fans, but I was finally able to appreciate the good qualities of it.

Hold up- when Hannibal is visiting Will - feeds him the sausage and egg scramble, Hannibal says something along the lines of “I like to prepare my own meals at home. eat up, Will- you need your protein in the morning”

That’s not really sausage he’s feeding him??
:ohhh:

:picard::picard:

And when he’s talking to Larry Fishburne at the dinner table in his home during the one on one psych eval - unbeknownst to Larry - he’s serving him human meat then too??
:ohhh:

I was wondering why the camera kept zoning in on the food
:lupe:

It's funny cause I just got back from seeing Dr.Strange 2 (9/10 btw. shyt was flames:wow:) but it was such a Sam Raimi movie to the core in the best way possible and then I see people talking about Drag Me To Hell which is one of my personal favorites. I'll say this...it's a weird ass movie. It's not the most tightly written and there's some shyt in there that's kind of hokey but that old lady and the subsequent demon were scary as hell when I first watched it. I think it suffered a little bit from his penchant for adding humor to his horror movies and it just didn't really fit as well with that one. The visuals in the last scene where shorty gets grabbed are flames tho.

I can't wait for his new Evil Dead movie to come out even tho I still kinda wanna see a sequel to the 2013 version first.
