Art Of A Hit:lupe:

...washed up band try to make a new record in a castle and see ghastly apparitions:whoo:

Thought this would be better, but Musician Horror is an untapped genre:ehh:

The Foo Fighters horror movie was surprisingly decent in terms of Musician Horror.

There's also a weird one that dropped this year about academics looking for old undiscovered folk songs, and they wind up finding a song that has weird effects. All You Need is Death...it's weird and a little slow, but it was pretty unique.

Job Bob's Christmas special included Rare Exports this year. The other one was It's a Wonderful Knife which is mid IMO. I'll def be watching the Rare Exports part.

It is. I watched it for the first time last week. I didn't have much fun.

I also watched Better Watch Out. I enjoyed it and lot. It has the kids from The Visit in it.

The people who think Kevin McAllister is evil in Home Alone need to watch Better Watch Out, lol.

I'm still not sure how to feel about it, but I gotta say the twists make it one hell of a watch.

Watched The Collector. good home invasion film. Those traps. :picard:

But why go to great lengths to do that? Did I miss something or did the Collector know the guy would return?
The traps get crazier in the sequel. If I recall correctly, it gets more into the Collector's mindset (sort of) and what he does with victims that he keeps. Though, I prefer the original a bit.

End of year is here. I think it's a good time for everyone to give us your Superlatives. I've made a little list of categories, feel free to fill it in and throw in some honorable mentioned where they're deserved.

Best Overall Horror Movie 2024: (Simple as it sounds, what was the best movie for the genre)?

Scariest Horror Movie: (A lot of sites list the Substance as the best horror of the year, but it's comedic and gross...not scary. This is for movies that actually build tension, creepiness, and scare scenes. If you wanted to scare someone, which 2024 movie is your top pick)?

Best Kill: (Every few years a kill scene comes along that's so iconic that it gets a name..think "the saw scene" in the original Terrifier. Which kill(s) stood out the most this year)?

Best Original Horror: (What new horror property was the best of the year, we've got some contenders this year).

Best Continuation: (Sequels, Prequels, and Requels get their chance to shine here).

Scream Queen of the year: (Self-explanatory)

Killer of the Year: (Same)

The Sleeper of the year: (What's a horror movie that didn't receive much hype but surprised you this year)?

Best score of 2024: (I'll say this until I'm blue in the face, Scores make scares...what movie had a soundtrack and score that stood out the most)

I'm curious to hear your takes. We had a crapload of horror movies this year, with a few standouts and a lot of decent to good films. I kept it positive, but we could throw in a Worst of 2024 and Biggest disappointment if yall want.

Nosferatu was solid. There were some cracks in the story half-way through that kept me from putting it in ‘great’ territory, and I kinda felt a similar way with ‘The Northman’. Was waiting for Eggers to inject something new in it to truly mold it into his own thing and that didn’t really happen. It’s a faithful adaptation of a story most of us are already familiar with.

I did get the sense several times that this was the passion project Eggers had been waiting his whole career to make. Was refreshing to see a well lit horror film and one that intentionally made usage of keeping certain things hidden in the darkness. A lot of the imagery does its job in making the film come across as a hypnotic, gothic nightmare that I couldn’t turn my head away from.

Orlok’s voice commanded my attention but I still don’t know how to feel about it. Can’t wait to catch it again some other time, and preferably with subtitles, because it was kinda hard to understand him.

Orlok rockin’ the Flanders porn stache nearly got a laugh out of me but it’s also close to how Count is described in Bram’s original work. It’s a gross look that I think combined perfectly with the beauty of the film. The last shot of Orlok and Ellen together on the bed, dead, summed up the themes to a tee. For a split second, it felt as if I was watching Possession (1981) again.
