The “Coming Home to the Dark” movie- one of the most absolute shocking, sad and dark first 15-20 minutes of a movie that I’ve seen in a minute. I’ll finish watching tonight to see if the follow up is intense as the beginning. I’ll go as far to compare it to the scene in The Stranger with the
-“Why are you doing this to us”
- “Because you were home”
Violence for the sake of violence.
I had to legit pause and rewind on some “Did I just see what I thought happened” because it took me a minute to process.
Australian and New Zealand don’t have a heavy hand in the horror game but when they do - it’s always the most brutal moment possible. Like Wolf Creek. Pure savagery.
I am IN fam! I'll def peep that. You're dead on with Australia and New Zealand, they don't come up all that often when I'm looking. But if they've got a lot of gems with a semblance of realism to the brutality in their work. Australia and France do brutality the best IMO. Japan and Indonesia got hauntings on lock. Then Ireland has some sleepers bringing folktales to modern day (The Hallow is an absolute slept on gem of a film).
