The “Coming Home to the Dark” movie- one of the most absolute shocking, sad and dark first 15-20 minutes of a movie that I’ve seen in a minute. I’ll finish watching tonight to see if the follow up is intense as the beginning. I’ll go as far to compare it to the scene in The Stranger with the
-“Why are you doing this to us”
- “Because you were home”
Violence for the sake of violence.

I had to legit pause and rewind on some “Did I just see what I thought happened” because it took me a minute to process.
Australian and New Zealand don’t have a heavy hand in the horror game but when they do - it’s always the most brutal moment possible. Like Wolf Creek. Pure savagery.

I am IN fam! I'll def peep that. You're dead on with Australia and New Zealand, they don't come up all that often when I'm looking. But if they've got a lot of gems with a semblance of realism to the brutality in their work. Australia and France do brutality the best IMO. Japan and Indonesia got hauntings on lock. Then Ireland has some sleepers bringing folktales to modern day (The Hallow is an absolute slept on gem of a film).

I'm not feeling "From" at all. I really enjoyed the trailer, so I had high hopes, but the acting and writing keeps pulling me out of the story. I just don't believe it and no one is acting in a believable way. Shame.

I'm so stoked for "X". Love the trailer. I have tickets for this Thursday's opening. I hope it is at least entertaining.
“FROM” Is starting to hit a downhill slope for me. This episode 4 and 5 was blahhhh. They’re taking the teenage angst and inner family drama too far. The town and house separate cliques are no purpose.

Not enough for me to give up on the series totally but as I said in the beginning - I hope they didn’t “walking dead” dramatize this which is what they’ve done for the last 2 episodes. Started off strong but the writing is all over the place- too many subplots and too many different directions.

That’s actually good. You’re better off going into the film with a fresh mind not knowing what any of it is about.

I just got done with it and wish I hadn’t watched a trailer. It was like an ode to the late 70s and early 80s grindhouse slaughterfest. Main thing I liked though was that the film had heart. I’ll be watching the prequel.

I prefer horror recommendations to trailers these days because so many scares get ruined. I had to find a trailer for the Loved Ones last week that didn't ruin a couple of the most memorable reveals, and it still felt like it showed too much.

X looks really good, plus it's got Jenna Ortega who I've become a big fan of off strength of Boricuan heritage and her being the most likeable characters in You season 2 and Scream (she had the best performance in it IMO). I probably won't catch it this weekend because I'm geeking out and hitting the theater for an anime movie (Jujutsu Kaisen). But I'ma support it in theaters.

The idea of writing a prequel before you've even been greenlit for the original is kinda dope. They fleshed out a character and motivations to the umpteenth before hitting the screen. That's a cool idea through and through.

Yeah, I just finished episode four and it's a bit frustrating that they put so much effort into the family issues when there's this blatant mystery staring us right in the face. I don't mind the idea of a town full of people so beaten down that they've given up and are trying to maintain some normalcy, but at least have these newcomers try to get the answers that everyone in the audience wants.
- What are the creatures?
- How do people get stuck there?
- Where did the charms come from and how do they work?
- Why do they only come out at night and what's up with the boy that appears during the day?

I want to know about that. Not about the divorce or the teenage daughter being angsty. Just bring back the box for that waitress that left the hospital door open and get me some clues to the overarching story.

Right!!! All of this.
Adding to what you said -Italy and Spain have the action shock dramas. Real life portrayals of corruption and violence manifested in a horror movie.

Korea has the zombie, graphic cgi horrors.

Central America/Mexico/Latin America have the demonic possession/supernatural superstition superiority in the genre.

America- slashers, psychological slow builds, and horror gore

Latin America DEF kills the possession and superstition stuff. I feel slightly biased toward it because I grew up on all the old superstitious stuff, had a medium for a great aunt although I never got to meet her (only heard stories).

It's dope to have access to the world's horror. I remember being in awe when I caught some of the foreign stuff in the late 90's into 00's. I remember my first times seeing Audtion and High Tension in particular. Both had teenage me thinking "you can do horror like this!?"

I saw that the new family was going to be a drag on this show from jump which is why I said earlier that all of them except for the little boy should've been killed off in the first episode.
If they were going to stick around then they should've been like the rich tech guy and been laser focused on finding a way out instead they are giving us bullshyt marital issues, whiny teenage angst and strong "I want to speak to the manager" energy.

You were right. The only characters saving this show are the tech guy and the sheriff. Maybe the priest. The girl with the hand writing on her arm is annoying asf, with “the voices” and everything. Like I do not care for most of these characters - these types of shows just don’t get it, stop making these characters so damn unlikeable and stop trying to make the subplots deeper than they need to be. Like @storyteller said, all we need to know is-
“What are the creatures?
- How do people get stuck there?
- Where did the charms come from and how do they work?
- Why do they only come out at night and what's up with the boy that appears during the day?”

This is it^^^, quoted directly from him. And they should build on that. There’s no reason for us to be 6 eps in and not know anything more than what we know from the 1st ep.

“Coming Home in the Dark” has a 4 out of 5, from me. It’s a deep movie.

i repped you and got @Nicole0416_646NYC jealous for showing you too much love but this movie 20 minutes in is ass cheeks… lol
Don’t even try to placate. Noooo you were all geeked and giddy earlier.
:unimpressed:
Not jealous at all. I’m just saying - how is it that I post all types of movies and series, reccs, content without so much as a good looks, Dap or Rep. But you pull up with the public acknowledgement for his posts off the top. Like I actually review past posts and watch lists, updated horror content based on requests. But he puts up two movies that seem appealing and it’s break out thr congrats.

Not even watching the movie before you give him all those platitudes. @abominable1 never even daps me- i dap his posts and he doesn’t even give me a courtesy return dap. I never see him dap anyone in this thread. No disrespect and I’m not trying to start anything, I don’t have an issue with, (he can do as he pleases) but it’s just an observation. Nothing to do with jealousy either- I’m not being emotional at all. No big deal to me, really. It’s fine. Nevermind.

neither was that bullshyt movie I gave props too without even checking it out even though the trailer and off the strength of his saying it was fire… :francis:

Rob Zombie causing controversy once again. Bought to break the horrorosphere again.

The news drops that RZ is directing the Munsters:
Crowd: “Noooo!! Rob is going to make the movie too gory and vile, it’s going to be too much violence!! Why is RZ doing a Munster’s reboot- you know how his movies are :damn:!!”

People hearing that the movie is Rated PG:

“This ain’t it - PG is for kids, why is Rob giving The Munsters movie this weak Disney treatment for :beli:, PG Ratings and Rob Zombie movies don’t go together. This is not what I was expecting”

this is all I’m seeing all over the internet - at least wait until the movie drops and actually see the finished product before the complaints start rolling in.
:what::deadmanny:

The haters need another reason to hate him.

No you’ve reached that level of desensitization where nothing can really satisfy your viewing appetite unless it’s like that dark web type of content. I’ve seen it happen before on this thread with a different poster. Nothing can really satisfy your watch needs right now bc this is not really a time for prime horror season distribution. Basically, you’re in a state of withdrawal- we’ve all been there at some point
:deadmanny:

I warned about this months ago that this would be a slow period for us content watchers. Not only bc of covid (which caused a lot of production delays) but bc two popular releases came out - Scream, The Batman, and all of those superhero-esque type movies would come out beginning of the year into the summer. Therefore, we won’t really see the higher level horror releases until LATE this year. It’s going to be wild slow - that’s why most of the major streaming platforms are reupping the early/mid 2000s horror movies and testing out new series at this time. Right now, you have options to either lower your expectations, go foreign flicks or do like I did by balancing it out by taking breaks from any form of horror content for a couple of weeks and then watching any horror reccs that you see at one time. Horror movie releases will be at this pace until June - don’t go watching snuff films or anything that will get you flagged from now until then
