My favorite part is Sally telling the girls that once Leatherface is after you, he'll never stop coming after you...50 years after her one encounter with Leatherface who she'd never see again if she didn't actively drive to where she knew he was and trap the women that pissed him off for bait.
When she locked those two annoying sisters in the car and said that dumb shyt I was like: :dwillhuh:

Leatherface lived like a 2 hour drive from your pig farm for the last 50 years and didn't think to look you up to finish the job yet he's supposed to be obsessed with these two people?
How you figure, granny?

I really thought they were bringing back the original Sally- it wasn’t until I went to IMDB to see the rating for this garbage ass movie that I looked up that she died of a heart attack years ago. This was disrespectful as shyt -using her legacy to promote this fuk shyt of a movie like she was alive. They really tried to copy off Jamie Lee Curtis’ Halloween Kills vibe omg - talk about expectations not meeting reality.
It was a cheap move to try and copy the way Halloween brings back Jamie Lee Curtis but it was bullshyt because if Jamie Lee was dead no one would recast the role of Laurie Strode and the fact that most people had no clue that Marilyn Burns was dead and they recast the role with some random old Irish lady should've been the hint that no one was itching to see the character of Sally Hardesty again.

I waited damn near 2 years for this- and this is the best they could do.

They managed to make me actually be on Leatherface’s side for this movie- I had no issue with any of those gentrifukkers being killed.
:unimpressed:
the flashback scenes with the mass shooting - what was the point of that?? Ok we get it… she survived a mass shooting and is emotionally scarred. This wasn’t the movie for that.

and they false advertised this- Sally Hardesty waits 50 years to have her confrontation and No decades of combat training, gun usage… we’re expected to believe some 90lb 75 year old lady was taking on Leatherface- the trailer made it seem like there was some buildup and she had spent all this time prepared to pull up
:mjtf::deadmanny:

Sally gets to Leatherface and asks “you don’t remember me??”
Df type of climatic event is that?? Biggest fumble in a horror movie ever!! I can’t even
:dahell::snoop:
He didn't remember her because she looks nothing like the woman he chased with a chainsaw in 1974.

Pretty much all of this. The messaging was completely incoherent, the plot made no sense, and Idk how many times these producers want to make Leatherface an anti-hero but every movie that's attempted it has fallen completely flat. Every slasher-icon doesn't have to follow the Jason-formula of misunderstood child with super strength. Michael's a kid that wants to go home but kills people; Jason is a kid that wants his mommy but kills people; Leatherface also lost his mother-figure and his home, so he kills people.

Can we remove the child-like qualities from these brutal rampaging killers and replace those with ANYTHING different. The Sawyer family was scary because they took glee in the killing. Jason's mom was dope because of revenge. Michael not having a motive to understand or empathize with was the scariest thing about him. They became icons because they were horrifying not because they had anything relatable about them.

...and if we're gonna aim for the audience to root for the killer, instead of trying to shoe-horn messaging in just make the cast irredeemable and unlikeable. Own the choice instead of trying to make shades of grey to the rich folk that are gentrifying a town and dgaf about anyone in it. If the gore is gonna be cartoonish and the plot is just an excuse to go from kill scene to kill scene, then just do that.
And one more thing that irked me about this movie and bleeds into the anti-hero depiction of Leatherface...according to this movie Leatherface, after failing to catch Sally in 1974, spent the next 50 years of his life living in that orphanage not murdering anyone solely because the woman who ran the orphanage was nice to him? That flies in the face of the film they claim to be a continuation of.

Gentrifying a ghost town in the middle of deeply red Texas makes zero sense...who would be the customer base for all of these shops they wanted to open? It's not like they found a distressed neighborhood in an otherwise functioning city; these people were going to put restaurants and art galleries in the sticks where their nearest neighbor was a dusty gas station.
It made sense given the fact they were [Gen Z] idealists (this was even mentioned in dialogue in the first act). They wanted to create a utopia without really thinking about the practical ramifications. The whole property deed drama played into this as well. The set up of the town worked - it was nearly everything else that surrounded it and in contrast to it that didn't.
Again, I think the director was poking fun at the Halloween trope by trying to give Sally the appearance and backstory of a Final Girl; Leatherface not remembering her played into this as well, because she was a forgettable character. I don't think it was meant to be taken seriously, hence her abruptive death, which they wouldn't have done if they wanted her to save the day. I can understand the idea of it, it just didn't work. It was made worse by her seemingly coming back from the dead and letting off that shotgun for one last time. That broke the logic/rules it created for the character; you can't go back and forth between what her purpose is.

Looks like Netflix's Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie tried to reproduce the Halloween/Halloween Kills gril power movement. Works for JLC but NOT Leatherface's victim's

Did not hate it but very disappointed. Like a fine chick who uses her molars instead of all tongue/throat

This new show From looks like some hybrid mix of Children of the Corn & Night of the Living Dead. I'm intrigued. Glad it's a show and not a movie. Gives time to build the story and characters.

First episode is insane - Interesting asf. You can feel the sense of dread with the lost family in the camper trying to find their way.

as soon as I saw that Harold Perrineau was in this- I knew it was worth the watch

Epix premiering this is a Nice recourse from the epic fail letdown that is Texas Chainsaw. They released the first three episodes which is good so we don’t have to wait week to week for the next. My only problem is they need to stop this trend of showing mutilated corpses of kids under 17 in various aspects. Too much graphic - before, that used to be taboo in horror movies but now it’s become commonplace. I don’t care about adults but seeing a child not more than 8 or 9 years old - they could still get the point across without the added shock value. It’s disturbing. But other than that - looks Ike EPIX got another one.
