Day Fourteen: Jack Frost
Jack Frost is one of the most batshyt insane, over-the-top and fukkery filled fun times I have ever had watching a horror movie. That's it...that is the review.
Movies like Jack Frost are the reason that the phrase "So bad, it's good" was created.
I give 'Jack Frost' 3 out of 4 Gun Totin' Santa Loomis'
That would be an amazing movie.Box art already has me wishing for a Gingerdead Man crossover like Jason vs Freddy.
Jack Frost 2 was almost a slapstick comedy.I remember liking Jack Frost 2 more than the first one. They turned the camp all the way up.
We need that. That Lovecraft podcast that was shared like 20 pages back, I just listened to it finally and they were describing Del Toro's dream project At the Mouth of Madness and why it keeps falling through...I literally was listening to the descriptions thinking "If I hit the lotto, I'd fund that damned movie and let him do whatever the hell he wanted" ...not true, just a spur of the moment hot take but still. Cosmic horror needs more standouts.
We need that.
I’m digging through old posts because that’s how much I’m feening for cosmic horror right now.
Adding this to the watchlist.Have you peeped the Sator yet? It's not really cosmic horror, but hints a bit at it and has some overlap. It's not a top recommendation for me because it's a bit slow and longer than necessary, but there's a cool conceit in that the director used real conversations with his grandmother who really believed she was hearing and speaking with an entity called the Sator for the recordings, scribblings, and some of the home movies (he clearly added a bit to these but did a good job imo).
I definitely see you as an evil child when you were young.25 Days of Christmas Horror
Day Twelve: The Children
The Children has a premise that I really like since "evil children" is one of my favorite horror subgenres and it is a bit timely with the use of some sort of airborne virus causing children to go homicidal.
However the execution of everything from the kills (shot in the clunkiest ways) and the overall direction (attempts at artsy shots that just felt hokey) to the horrible characters who behave in ways that make no sense.
I was questioning if the adults were also infected with some mind altering virus because it took most of them forever to realize just how murderous their little moppets had become (one guy was still clueless with only like 15 minutes left in the movie) and once they did they seemed to fall into two categories of behavior: either disregard that the kids were trying to kill them all or viciously kill the little monsters. It was like the idea of rounding up a bunch of elementary school age children and locking them in a room didn't occur to anyone... it was either act like the kids were fine or bash their heads in.
I give 'The Children' 2 out of 4 Gun Totin' Santa Loomis'
That happens to me ALLLLL the time with the Shudder app. I have a new-ish version of the firestick and it's still the same. I have to log completely out of the app and log back in. or remove the app and re-install for it to work correctly. I don't think it's just the firestick. it seems to be one of the main complaints on "help guides" - the tv shudder app is wild glitchy. Same with AMC+ which also has a shudder hub.My Shudder app won't work on my ancient firestick and it's driving me nuts. Movies just don't play or crash the app constantly. I'm def getting a new one for Christmas, so I just gotta hold out.
Looked it up- they know it’s a problem, here’s the trouble shooting if anyone is having the same issue that I am.
AMC app constantly stops....."too many simultaneous streams"
For the past few days, the AMC app on my Roku Streaming Stick + keeps crashing every 2-3 mins, and says "too many simultaneous streams". I googled that, and it said too many "restarts" of the show, or too many streams (I only have 1 in use). It's getting really annoying. I've tried restarting the Roku multiple times...doesn't fix it.
All the other apps (Netflix, Prime, HBO, etc) work fine. Anyone else run into this problem? It feels like an app problem, or perhaps my ISP (Spectrum) is throttling that specific app (which would be really weird).

@miketx
Thanks for the post.
Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.
I have to do all of this just to watch an app on
My tv.
My Shudder app wont load or not working properly (loading error / server error / connection error).
There are few situations that may cause the load issue in android apps.
- The Shudder app server may be down and that is causing the loading issue. Please try after few minutes.
- Your wifi / mobile data connection not working properly. Please check your data connection.
- Too many users using the app at same time. Please try after few minutes.
Is the Shudder app freezing up on your TVs?? It plays fine on mobile but I’m trying to watch Shudder on the tv app and it keeps freezing up- it keeps saying “failing to load”. Every movie that I try to watch- it does this - alllll day. I’m trying to relax and watch a movie on this last day of my Labor Day break ; this is frustrating - DAMMITTT.. it’s either the app, or my WiFi is shyt out here bc of all these maintenance updates or this stupid amazon fire connection- I unplugged it, powered off ...... why the f won’t it LOAD!!??? The same shyt is happening with AMC+ ... but of course Netflix works fine- THERES nothing I want to watch on Netflix right now; I want to watch shudder — stupid
I just realized that AMC+ has a shudder tv hub- I’ve been paying for 2 apps that have the same exact content and neither one of them is loading properly, so I can’t watch shyt.

mentioned that this app has been a problem for like 2 years now
