Here’s my 300blk with CAA Saddle which is classified as a pistol @klientel

real happy with it, and shoots great. Just as good as an sbr configuration imo

Anyone using an AR15 as a home defense weapon? I’ve only ever used them as range guns but now after thinking about the advantages over a handgun I’m gonna make the switch.

I just had a convo with my bro in law who just bought a covid-19 glock 17 (like everyone else in the country) and wanted some tips for handling it. After explaining sight pictures and trigger pull to him, I realized that shyt is awful for home defense. It’s better than nothing but should have gotten a Moss 500 tactical. That handgun is gonna be shyt for a new shooter in a pressure situation.

Handguns are difficult to shoot. I’ve been shooting for years, and my groups are pretty tight these days but I don’t think my accuracy would be worth shyt in a shootout. Just too many factors that fukk up aim. Rifles on the other hand are dead easy to shoot for EVERYONE.

I can’t use a full length AR in the house though. That shyt just isn’t practical at all so I HAVE to get an SBR. And it’s gotta be suppressed. Even imagine even with subsonic ammo(is that even a thing in 223/556?) firing a AR in a house would fukk up your ears.

Might buy the suppressor now, silencer ship makes it pretty easy. Looking at the socom 556 and just get a 10.5 upper for one of my existing ARs. I would love a Daniel Defense MK18 but fukk paying 2k for a gun and then 1k for a suppressor.

Any of y’all run something like this?

I have a 10.5 inch ar for that very reason. Im of the Jeff Cooper mindset, your handgun only exist to get you back to you rifle, in terms of bio mechanics, ease of use long guns are superior to.handguns in every way.

I run my 10.5 with a holosn 510t and thats all. It purely for HD, I used heavy grain too, since im not concerned about ranges greater tha 25 yards with it.

Primary atms had some bcm uppers on sale, might want to look at that and pair it up with a psa magpul lower for 180..

That’s nice. I’ve been researching all day and I’m definitely going 300 blackout now.

You won't regret it. It's one of my favorite guns to shoot. The recoil is so soft, all you need is a little foam on the buffer tube :ehh:

300 blkout is not needed if you don't have a suppressor.

Ammo is more expensive and harder to fine.

I would just stick with 556/223 it's a common round. Shtf you are will come across this more

He already has a 556 upper for shtf though. For dedicated home defense, all he really needs is a 300 shorty with a magazine or two worth of ammo. Plus they're fun as hell to go to the range with.

That did sound sus

I am almost done with my Maverick 88 for home defense. Just put on a side saddle and waiting for my sling swivels to show up. Debating on whether I should add a light or not.

this is a pure home defense weapon. And it will be suppressed and running subsonic ammo, I can’t shoot indoors without it...I’ll go deaf.

I have a couple 556 ARs at the moment for SHTF I guess. But I’m thinking a home invasion is more likely than a mad max apocalypse situation popping off. So I’m planning for that instead
