Probably best to handle it, and see what you like and dislike and then look for modifications that are common to correct the issues you experience.
Guess today was the last day to get AR-15's in California . My manager said the line was crazy at the gun store he was at, with people waiting for hours.
He's getting a piece there from World War II tonight. Cleaning it himself to save $100 for its been covered in grease to preserve it all these years.
Hope he brings it to the job tomorrow. I'm curious

I believe you have to get a featureless ar to not be bothered by the Cali DOJ now

Man don't sleep on those phillipino and turkish 1911s, I had an American Classic and Rock Island 1911, perfect.

You looking specifically at bolt action or semi autos as well?
I would say Savage and Tikka offer excellent bang for your buck with a longer track record than Mossberg.
