Teen questioned about shooting of girls, 12 and 13 - chicagotribune.com

An 18-year-old man is being questioned about the shooting of two girls at a park this week after surrendering to police.

The surrender was worked out by the man's lawyer and representatives of the anti-violence group CeaseFire after the man's family learned he was being sought by police about Tuesday night's shooting of Tishona Turner, 13, and Nakia Polk, 12.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. while the girls were walking at Cooper Park, 117th and Ada Streets. Police don't believe the girls were the targets, and are looking into whether the gunman was aiming at another car.

Police said there's been an ongoing internal gang conflict in the area of the shooting.

Judge watched porn on courthouse computer, investigation alleges - Chicago Sun-Times

A state investigation is alleging that a Will County judge watched porn on the computer in his court chambers before and after court calls, bringing “disrepute” to the judicial office.

The investigation by the Illinois Judicial Inquiry board into Judge Joseph C. Polito, 69, was spurred by a Sun-Times story detailing information obtained about the Internet history of Polito’s computer through a Freedom of Information Act.

The complaint, filed Friday, will be reviewed by the Illinois Courts Commission, which will hold hearings and allow Polito the opportunity to defend himself before deciding on any disciplinary action, which could include termination.

The complaint alleges Polito’s attempts to watch porn were often stymied by a safeguard preventing access to pornographic websites, but Polito continued searching porn websites until finding ones that were not blocked.

The illicit web sites included many focusing on certain anatomy, age ranges and body types.

Chicago violence July 14-15 One dead, 3 wounded in Saturday night shootings - chicagotribune.com

One man was dead and five other people wounded, including a 14-year-old boy, in three separate shootings late Saturday and early Sunday in Chicago, authorities said.

A man in his 20s was dead on the scene from gunshot wounds and a 41-year-old man, who was shot in the leg, had his condition stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn following the incident in the 1200 block of West 79th Street about 8:30 p.m., said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer, citing preliminary information.

The man slain in the Gresham neighborhood was identified as Andrew Jackson, 27, of the 7600 block of South Sangamon Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The two men were walking when someone came up to them and started shooting, according to police. One person was being questioned in the shooting, police said.

About an hour later, a boy, 14, was shot in the abdomen and a man, 51, shot in the arm, in an attack about 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of East Garfield Boulevard in the Washington Park neighborhood, Greer said. The teen was in serious condition at Comer Children's Hospital, and the man's condition was stabilized at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.

The two victims were outside when a man or boy started shooting at them, police said.

Just before 11 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Wood Street in the Gresham neighborhood, an 18-year-old man was shot in the abdomen, according to police. He was in critical condition at Christ Medical Center.

Police were questioning a man in the shooting of a man in his 20s in the 2600 block of North Hoyne Avenue about 12:30 a.m. in the Lathrop Homes neighborhood, police said. The man was shot in the back and his condition had been stabilized at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, police said.

LOS ANGELES GANG ATTEMPTS TO TAKE OVER CHICAGO STREETS
By Clark Staten, ENN Editor
Chicago,Il. (ENN)-- Chicago gang crime specialists are reporting that members of the "Crips" street gang, from the Los angeles area, are attempting to take control of at least one neighborhood here. Police insiders say that several recent raids have revealed a "new and different type of criminal element" on Chicago's West side.

A recent arest of a burglar, on Chicago's West side, resulted in his revealing to police the location of a cache' of automatic weapons and military fragmentation grenades. Also confiscated was a quantity of liquid PCP (Angel Dust/Animal tranquilizer). Reportedly, the weapons and drugs belonged to a member of the Los Angeles based "Crips" street gang. A Chicago Police intelligence officer, who asked to remain anonymous, reported that an increase in the quality and quantity of "rock cocaine" or "crack" can be attributed to an "invasion from the West Coast". Chicago Police had previously reported that there was very little "crack" available for sale in Chicago.

"Street people" in certain West side neighborhoods have confided that "there are bloods from out of town" who have attempted to intimidate and control given areas where drugs are sold. Several recent outbursts of violence and "drive-by" shooting have reportedly been perpetrated by unknown "gang types", who are not associated with any known Chicago gang. One friendly neighborhood resident told this reporter, "them brothers is from LA-LA land...you know... out West". "They's bad boys...that group...they kill you soon as look at you", he concluded.

A recent raid called "Operation Hammerlock", which was carried out against members of the Chicago "Vice Lords" street gang resulted in the arest of more than sixty (60) youths and adults and confiscation of numerous cars, houses, and weapons. This raid resulted in the further fragmentation of traditional control of neighborhood "retail drug sales". At least one Chicago intelligence analyst has hypothesized that the decline of certain Chicago gangs has lead to the a void that is being filled by Los Angeles based gangs.

He points out that many Chicago street gangs were frequently a "loosely affiliated relationship of convenience and self defense" and that they were under no centralized authority. "The Crips are another matter entirely...they are ruthless and will stop at nothing to conduct their business", he offered. "We can expect the level of violence to increase even further...if `the Crips' continue their effort to control Chicago's market in drugs and weapons", the wary expert added. "If I lived in Iowa City, or Boise, or Kansas City, I would also be extremely worried...the gangs will be there soon", he concluded.

Argument over infidelity leaves man dead, girlfriend jailed - Chicago Sun-Times

An argument over a man cheating on and not paying enough attention to his girlfriend ended early Wednesday with the woman plunging a steak knife into his chest, prosecutors alleged at a hearing Friday.

Lakeisha Wilson, 23, was charged with one count of first-degree murder. Judge Laura Sullivan ordered her held on a $600,000 bond during a Friday hearing, court records indicate.

Wilson and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Maurice Wilson, lived together in the 1400 block of North Sedgwick, and had a 3-year-old child together, records show.

They had prior domestic violence issues in which Lakeisha Wilson had stabbed Maurice Wilson, and on one occasion in August 2011, he had to go to a hospital for treatment of his wounds.

On Wednesday, the two argued about him cheating on her and not paying enough attention to her, court records state. The altercation turned physical, and both punched each other. During the fight Lakeisha Wilson grabbed a steak knife and stabbed her boyfriend in the chest, piercing his heart, records allege. The child witnessed the fight, according to court records. Maurice Wilson went to the bathroom, and a short time later, Lakeisha went into the bathroom, where she saw him naked and bleeding substantially from his chest.

He told her that he had called 911 and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:21 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

In a videotaped statement to police, Lakeisha Wilson admitted she stabbed him, court records allege.

Lemont man gets 6 months in jail for molesting teenager - Chicago Sun-Times

A Will County judge sentenced a Lemont man to six months in jail and four years of sex offender probation Thursday for repeatedly molesting a teenage girl between 2003 and 2007, according to the Will County state’s attorney’s office.

Greg A. Voegtlin must also register for life as a sex offender and avoid his victim.

Judge Richard Schoenstedt told him not to have any contact with any girl under the age of 18, aside from his 2- and 4-year-old daughters.

A jury convicted Voegtlin in May on three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse after his victim told them he started sexually abusing her in May 2003, when she was 14.

Voegtlin’s attorney, Steven Haney, said the abuse didn’t happen. He said prosecutors lacked evidence, and he raised questions about the victim’s delay in reporting the crime. Prosecutors said Voegtlin’s victim had no reason to lie.

crack wasn't a popular drug of choice in chicago during the late 80's/early 90's..mof we was probably the last major city to get hooked during the crack epidemic..and since L.A was the 1st city to have it, it only made sense for them to try to capitalize over here...but as we all know, that plan failed :youngsabo:

and notice it was just the west side..they couldn't set foot on the south side..AT ALL
