Looking back to the big Saturday fight it’s not Loma’s win whar makes me disappointed. He is really one of the bests out, belongs in the very narrow elite and I’ve no problem with someone putting him #1 based on what we see from him constantly.
Now that I said that the things which make me disappointed are:
Rigo’s quitting and the whole vibe from his performance before. That he didn’t even dare to throw his straight backhands, that he didn’t realize he should stop stucking in front of Loma crouching so low that his nose touches the canvas... and all in all his performance.
He still moved up 2 divisions to face an elite guy so still respect for that but not for the performance and that strange and sad quitting.
I am also feeling disappointed because of Bob Arum got his petty “revenge” in a situation where he was absolutely wrong and was a real scumbag who undermined and publicly despiced his fighter because he unexpectedly by them beat the wrong man, the star of the show, the moneymaker. Arum can be a great promoter for some but he was a piece of shyt with Rigo and it’s sad seeing him getting his “revenge”.
It’s also sad to see the joy of ppl like Dan Rafael who were probably waiting for this for a long time and who were the most disrespectful toward Rigondeaux even when there was no reason or call for it at all they just happened to be bored by him so the thought they can forget about giving his due respect too.
