If the 2 mill ppvs rumor holds true, canelo is estimated to bring in $50M, with ggg raking in around $30M

:wow:

Regardless of all the shyt that was said, i rock with ggg too but you know imma mafioso so he was the opps this time around. But dude seems like a genuine dude, and its good to see him get paid.

How the cartel gonna wash this $50M tho

Still don't understand the hate about either Canelo or GGG getting the KO. That is what happens when you face a bad ass dude and they both are bosses.

We should learn to expect in super fights that KO's are shocking, seems like going the distance is a more usual finish. Of course both fighters were hyping KO, it helps sell. Even Floyd hypes the possibility of KO's at times. :skip:
I know going in I was hoping for a GGG KO and had concern in Canelo's talent that he might hurt GGG and get a KO, but I would have presumed the most likely scenario was a decision...which I had made it clear in the fight thread before the fight was GGG's riskiest outcome. :stopitslime:

Fighters at the top level are built differently. KO's just don't happen at that level at all.

We all like to joke about chins. The reality is you can't even make it to that level without SOME type of chin. Obviously some chins are better than others. Even guys with suspect ass chins like Amir Khan are hard to KO. He's been KO'd 3 times, but they were YEARS apart. His chin is funny to joke about at the TOP level, but it's still better than the club fighters, the regional fighters, etc. If you've witness the lower levels of boxing, you'll see what a truly bad chin is.

Look at Wlad Klitchko, a guy that is considered to have a suspect chin, but yet he's going to the hall of fame. Its not like he's just going to fall over when you hit him. You still got to put him away, which is not easy to do. At the level he fought at, perhaps it was average, but when you look at all levels of boxing (club fighters, local fighters, regional fighters, fighters that can't make it beyond their country), hell it may be an iron chin compared to those guys.

Danny Jacobs signed with Matchroom/Hearn, smart, more PBC fighters need to sign with promoters so they can get fights

A PBC fighter in multi-fight deal with HBO?
Is this historic?

Also Matchroom's first major American signing

glad for him, he really deserved it

Jacobs is also capable of doing commentary if needed, as he's going to fight exclusively on HBO for some fights.

Dan Rafael chat wrap 9/22:

GGG vs. Canelo:
- With Ward retired ESPN has GGG as the new PFP #1.
- Scored the fight for GGG, but can understand a draw from the close rounds. Does have a problem with Trella's card being a draw and it gave Canelo the 7th round, which was a huge GGG round. Had that round been scored properly, he would have given the fight to GGG and it would have been a split decision win for GGG.
- Canelo's body language in the ring looked like that of a beaten fighter.
- Byrd has had some really bad scorecards. The fact she teaches up and coming judges is a joke.
- Canelo's rematch option stated that he could pick up a rematch as long as he wasn't the winner. So he can do so in a draw. He has three weeks to notify if he is picking up his rematch. That said, they are already talking about a rematch.
- Imagine's a rematch would be in the same arena as the first fight.
- Showtime says Mayweather vs. McGregor did over 4 million buys, but isn't sure yet if it broke the record. HBO is saying GGG-Canelo could top 2 million.
- Believes GGG showed Canelo too much respect.
- Worse draw: Canelo-GGG or Lewis-Holyfield 1? Lewis vs. Holyfield by far.
- Does not think GGG will fight BJS next.
- Believes the rematch will be May 5.
- Agrees that it looks like GGG is declining. He is 35 and has fought a lot, it happens.
- Both showed great chins.
- Believes Canelo should have had to shave his beard.
- Never got an exact number on Canelo-JCC. It was just over 1 million PPV buys. Maybe 1.1, 1.2 million.

The rest of boxing:
- Suprised Ward retired. Does believe he will stay retired, but due to boxing's history, don't be surprised at a comeback.
- Whatever happens, sure that Ward we be a first ballot HOF.
- The contract Ward negotiated with HBO, that he left on the table to retire, called for fights at CW and HW.
- Not sure what is next for Cotto. GB has mentioned Lemieux. Mikey Garcia has called him out. He would like to see him fight Kell Brook.
- Would watch Garcia vs. Cotto. Crazier fights have been made.
- Parker vs. Fury? Parker by KO.
- Brook vs. Khan? Should have happened a couple of years ago. A bit of an expired event.
- Shabransky is a tough dude with good power. If Kovalev fights like the Kovalev of old it should be an easy fight for him.
- Linares vs. Campbell? Likes Linares by decision.
- Wilder has always wanted to fight top opponents, but it is tough to make those fights.
- So far the WBSS has failed to find US TV. Suspect that the semis and finals will be on TV.
- Joshua vs. Wilder is right up there with the biggest matches that can be made. The fact that they are fighting on back to back dates, gives him hope that a unification could happen in 2018.
- Joshua vs. Wilder would need to be built up a bit to be a US PPV.
- Understands that Bivol's next fight will be in November on an Eddie Hearn card and HBO will pick it up.
- Thoughts on TR on ESPN? So far so good.
- Can see Wilder or Ortiz winning by KO.
- Has not heard of any legal consequences for Broner after KO'ing a guy on the Vegas strip.
- Terrible that Spence has not fought since beating Brook. Maybe back in December, but most likely in January.
- Does not think Servania has a chance vs. Valdez.
- Better P4P: Sergio Martinez or Andre Ward? Ward.
- Hager vs. SRL? Always thought SRL won close.
- Tapia is showing signs of having problems and shouldn't be fighting.
- Would love to see Ancajas and Inoue fight.
- Fight that excites him the most left on the schedule? Wilder vs. Ortiz.
- Doesn't not think Ramirez's fight will be an easy one.
- Picking Valdez by KO and Ramirez by decision.
- Jezreel Corrales on a HBO BAD card isn't terrible, but it isn't main event worthy.
- According to a member of JCC's team, he is not going to fight Dirrell.
- Berchelt says he will be back in early 2018.
- Thinks Shakur Stevenson will fight Nov. 11.
- Greater career: Cotto or ODH? ODH.
- Thoughts on Ryan Garcia? Good prospect and good charisma. Could go a long way, but it is very early.
- Crawford likely not fighting until early 2018.
- Would love to have Inoue-Cuadras and Estrada-Sor on the same card, with the winners meeting. Had this conversation with Peter Nielson.
- Willie Monroe Jr. was bad.

What I was saying here is that to even get to a high level, you gotta be able to take a punch.

You have very good "gym" fighters that aren't necessarily good ring fighters.

Anyways,

Gervonta Davis Facing First Degree Aggravated Assault Charge

According to the Baltimore Fish Bowl, former world champion Gervonta Davis (19-0, 18 KOs) is facing a complaint of first-degree aggravated assault.

The paper cites Maryland court records, stating that an incident took place on August 1, but no details were available as to what took place or who was assaulted.

Davis, 22, made an appearance on the assault complaint on September 19 on a warrant, and he was released after posting a $100,000 unsecured bond - according to court records. He is scheduled to appear back in court on October 19.

It seems that court records also show two active cases for traffic stops, one in Baltimore County in April and another in Howard County in August.

According to Baltimore Press Box, Davis was cited with going 80 mph in a 55 mph zone in Baltimore County. In the Howard County stop, he was cited for following too close and driving on a suspended license.

Davis has had a rocky year. In January, he captured the International Boxing Federation lightweight title by knocking out Jose Pedraza in the seventh round. Then in May, Davis successfully defended his title with a third-round knockout of Liam Walsh in London.

He saw action back last month as part of the huge Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor undercard at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He failed to make weight for the fight, losing his IBF title on the scale. He secured a stoppage victory over Francisco Fonseca, but the ending was controversial because Fronseca got hit unintentionally to the back of the head. Davis was likely on his way to a stoppage win.
