From a match up perspective. I think Margarito's style is harder to deal with than Chino's.

Margarito didn't hit as hard and wasn't as explosive, but that nikka just kept coming and he had way more versatility in his punches. He was brutal on the inside and had hooks, uppercuts, and compact crosses. Plus his chin was granite as well as his body. You rarely seen him bothered by punishment. Whereas you could actually hurt Maidana or deter him from running up in you shyt. Plus Margarito kept getting stronger as the fight goes on. Chino slowed down a lil.

Chino was slightly faster, but his punches are usually wide and telegraphed. Margarito was slower, but his defense was a lil tighter and his offense didn't leave as many openings as Chino's did.

If anything Chino was like a poor man's Mayorga.

exactly.shyt reminds me of the threads i used to read before he fought cotto..hes just a brawler..hes limited.,.he had no skills..and dude showed less vulnerability than cotto did who was being applauded as being above the welters at the time like floyd was...their common opponents at the time..margarito won a hard but very clear decision over clottey while cotto damn near lost to the guy..shyt thats why i put a good amount of money on a margarito stoppage when he was the betting underdog:ohlawd:

Yup
Clottey did hurt his wrist in that Margarito fight, but he was washing dude in the 1st half before it happened. Clottey got overwhelmed by the pressure and couldn't even box enough to keep his lead.

Cotto/Clottey is the very definition of a life and death fight. :mjlol:I thought Cotto won because he took the championship rounds, but I can understand if someone had Clottey winning. Fight was close as hell.

I think prime Chino, te Robert Garcia version > Mayorga :yeshrug: Both were wild af but Maidana had a system to exploit his awkwardness with Garcia

Margarito's slowness would be his doom against Mayweather. Maybe he wasn't bothered by punches but Mayweather could move laterally through 12 rounds if he wanted to, sharp shooting Margarito to an UD. Faster, better movement, better defense, more precise, good chin, higher ring IQ...

Margarito was an awkward mfer but do I see him beating Floyd? Nah
I would take Mayweather any day

I'd take the Mayorga that bytched up Forrest 2x and made Spinks do the running man over any version of Chino, but that's just me. I can't see Mayorga getting outboxed and dropped by Devon Alexander

Margarito vs Floyd has always been a toss up to me. :manny: That's why I always wanted to see that fight, but it never happened so that was that.

Margarito wasn't even awkward to me. Chino and Mayorga were more awkward imo.

Yeah but I didn't think about the version lost to Devon, that was the pre-Garcia, crude verison

I'm thinking about the one who fukked Broner up and gave Floyd hell
It's rare to see a so visible change in the level of a fighter after a coach switch but with Maidana that's what happened

pre Garcia version? I would take Mayorga against that

oh yes and :salute: Timmy for officially retiring

i didnt like how he fought or rarely enjoyed his fights outside of a handful but he did do the best he can and overachieved like a mufukka..and came into the ring in the most optimal condition...which ive always respected

Yeah, but that's like insisting it's Rooney trained Tyson for every mythical match up that's presented his way.

Wasn't Chino struggling with Joseito Lopez while with Garcia.

The bulk of his career doesn't have Robert so we can't just dismiss his fights before that. All Robert did for CHino was make him jab more. He was still the same fighter to me, just a bit improved. He was still crude, just with a lil extra polish.
Chino ain't turn into the 2nd coming of Duran :mjlol:

He didn't but he improved jut as much that I think that version of him is better than Mayorga, that's about it

Tell me what's Andre Ward's best things he does in the ring that boils down to his physical talents?
physical strength - inside fighting

I can see why you said what you said but plenty of differences between Mikey and Ward

I wouldn't mix their style up

Malcolm Tann...what is this? are they going through the list of failed heavyweight prospects of yesteryear and picking randomly? :hhh:

what did you expect 2 weeks from the fight?

They give him exposure in the USA against a tune up opponent...
