Floyd was a couple years younger when Margarito was around than he was when he fought Maidana
and I also think that Margarito was more of a traditional volume puncher than Maidana who lunged in every second and then roughed you up on the inside etc...

I think Mayweather would have take Margs apart

nooooooo..it wasnt his volume that made him dangerous..he had a mean streak..he roughed ppl up..you dont damn near tear off somebody's ear being a just traditional volume puncher

Yeah there are definitely mixtures but I think we should stop to think about boxng styles in that boxer-puncher-swarmer relation

You wouldn't Golovkin and Porter are the same style for example
Yeah porter is closer to kirkland in a way. Golovkin is more like kostya tszyu in a way. Odd styles that

why do you think that out of the "brawlers" who faced Floyd some got embarrassed very badly /Hatton, Gatti) but some of them were among his toughest opponents /Castillo, Maidana)

no idea..hatton ive never thought highly of him..ever..i thought he was overrated from the first time i saw him..and especially at welterweight..gatti was gatti :manny:..classifying castillo as just a brawler is a no no..he was more than that...maidana rose to the occasion :manny:

I didn't mean brawler as a negative thing

I see where you coming from but I disagree a little

Ward is less textbook than Mikey and more fluid on his feets, also Ward fights at every distance while I don't see Mikey doing that. Ward is actually outstanding in in-fighting

Mikey is more like Joe Louis or Alexis Arguello in style imo, good textbook technique all around with strong power, can fight any direction
I was thinking of that. Joe Louis and Arguello are pretty similar not flashy and not the fastest feet but their punching technique is textbook perfect
