What about the Jennings fight before that?:mjpls:

Wilder vs Povetkin in Russia? Was that not about to happen until Povetkin got popped for PEDs....or am I imagining that?

Wilder vs Ortiz? Didn't Wilder say he'd fight him, but not on short notice due to the fact that Ortiz has been busted for PEDs before, and he wouldn't be tested on short notice, and now Ortiz is fixated on Joshua.....or am I imagining that?

Wilder vs Fury? Didn't Wilder already say he'd fight Fury, over in England, after the scheduled mandatory rematch with Wlad (which ended up falling through to Fury having a mental/physical breakdown).....or am I imagining that?

Wilder vs Parker, instead of Parker vs Sparring Partner? Was that not requested by Wilder and turned down by Parker.....or am I imagining that?

At the end of the day, yall can all ride the Joshua hype train.....but Im taking names, so don't try and double back later with some "bu-bu-but's" after the fact brehs:sas2:

#BombZquad

Im going Wilder of/when him and AJ scrap. Not even about the Vlad fight influencing me either

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
Exactly how I feel 100%:salute:

Since when did we NOT want to see unification between the top 2 Heavyweight Champions?:sas1:

Something aint adding up around here lately:sas2:

It's not adding up.. that fight was basically Joe Smith beating Bhop, except at Heavyweight.. Seems like it was all good up until they saw that chin and stamina get exposed.. Now nikkas out here copping pleas like Wilder isn't worthy of the fight..They must've envisioned Wilder landing that same right that Wlad dropped AJ with :sas2:

What current boxers could be good trainers when they retire?
I know he already retired but Bernard Hopkins looks like he could be a good trainer. He explains things very eloquently and knows the game inside out. Though training is a skill set of its own so idk but if there is anyone I would want to gain knowledge from it would be him.

bhop is the only boxer i feel has the something to contribute to this generation...but thats a tricky question since the best boxers dont really make the best trainers most of the time

Yuriorkis Gamboa Aims To Get Back in The Mix With Castellanos

By Francisco Salazar

Remember when Yuriorkis Gamboa was knocking out opponents left and right?

Or was in exciting, non-stop action fights?

Golden Boy Promotions does, and they are hoping ‘El Ciclon de Guantanamo’ can return to being the fighter who did both.

Gamboa returns to action tonight when he squares off against Robinson Castellanos in a 10 round lightweight bout at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

gamboa-castellanos%20%282%29.jpg

The fight will headline a three-fight ‘Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN’ telecast, beginning at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT on ESPN2.

Gamboa (26-1, with 17 KOs) is coming off a 10 round unanimous decision over Rene Alvarado on March 11 in Verona, N.Y. Tonight’s fight will mark the first time since 2014 Gamboa will have fought twice in one year.

After winning world title belts as a featherweight, beginning in 2009, the 35-year-old won an interim junior lightweight title in 2012. The combination of speed and power Gamboa exhibited as a featherweight did not accompany him as he went up in weight.

In June of 2014, Gamboa moved up to the lightweight division to face Terence Crawford. The flashes of speed and power were on display, even stunning Crawford late in the fight, but Gamboa was up against Crawford’s precision power and strength before he was stopped in round nine.

Gamboa, who now resides in Miami, Florida, has fought three times since then, but seems to want to be more active, especially since he is now fighting under the Golden Boy Promotions banner.

The plan is to have Gamboa compete in the junior lightweight division, even though he and Castellanos both weighed in at 133 pounds for tonight’s bout.

Castellanos (23-12, with 13 KOs) may be the opponent Gamboa needs to return to form from earlier in his career. His aggressive, come-forward style may play into the hands of Gamboa.

The fighter from Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico has not fought since March of last year when he was knocked out by Oscar Escandon.

Also on the ESPN2 telecast, unbeaten featherweight Abraham Lopez (22-0-1, with 15 KOs) squares off against Jesus Rojas (24-1-2, with 17 KOs) in a 10 round bout.

Yamaguchi Falcao (12-0, with 6 KOs), a 2012 Bronze Medalist, will face Morgan Fitch (18-0-1, with 8 KOs) in a 10 round middleweight bout.

So everybody ducking Wilder now got it my bad fam:hubie:.

You can say Wlad struggled against Fury and Jennings but we seen Wilder struggle against lesser fighters. That right hand can't bail him out forever.

Joshua been getting better every fight and your boy still windmilling almost 40 fights in :scust:

AJ said he would fight him before , what Wilder want him to do sign and fight him tomorrow:dahell:

Dan Rafael chat wrap 5/5 (Cinco de Mayo edition):

Canelo vs. JCC:
- Canelo getting KO'd isn't completely out of the realm of possibility.
- Personally doesn't see JCC winning. Canelo is more talented and faster. It might be competitive early, but Canelo separates himself as time goes on and wears JCC down, maybe even getting a late stoppage.
- If Canelo wins, strongly believes a fight vs. GGG gets made in September.
- Thinks Matthysse should win, but will be a good fight.
- Believes JCC draining himself is riskier than Canelo moving up in weight.
- Floyd vs. Canelo today? Floyd.
- Over/under 1 million buys? Under.
- Over/under 450k buys? Way over.
- Thinking 700-800k buys.
- Suspects Canelo will be under 164.5 lbs.
- Morales and Barrera (seem to get along fairly well now) both said that when two Mexicans fight it is impossible for it not to turn out into a good fight. The culture and pride is something most other fights don't have.
- Canelo vs. Sergio Martinez? Canelo.
- JCC camp is saying he currently weighs 1 pound over the weight limit prior to the weigh in.
- They are not gambling their purses vs. each other. It was all hype.
- JCC is probably motivated to hurt ODH's financial golden goose (Canelo) by beating him.
- Rates the undercard a B-. Diaz-Avila and Matthysse-Taylor are solid. Lemieux is in a mismatch.
- Doesn't think that the Fonfara fight is a reflection on JCC's chin. Fonfara was the bigger fighter and he has only been dropped once (and got up) in 50 fights.

Joshua vs. Klitschko:
- Believes Klitschko will pick up the rematch option. Told that if Klitschko does pick up the rematch it must take place within 6 months.
- Rematch could take place in the UK, not impossible it could be in NY.
- One of the best events he has ever covered. Atmosphere was fantastic.
- Is Joshua top 10 PFP? No.
- The right hand is Wlad's signature punch, impressive that Joshua got up from it.
- Joshua brought out the best in Klitschko and it proved that Wlad definitely isn't washed up and a rematch or another fight for Wlad is not a bad move for him.
- Had spoken on the phone with Joshua, this was his first time meeting him in person. Could not have been nicer or easier to deal with. Very impressive demeanor.
- Frontrunner for fight of the year (second is Chocolatito vs. Sor).
- Thought the ref stopped the fight a little too soon.
- Wilder vs. Joshua? Down the road, yes, this year, no.
- Joshua vs. Wilder who is the favorite? Joshua.
- Thought HBO did a terrible job on their editing on the replay. Should have showed some of the intros and pre-fight atmosphere.
- The fight showed that Wlad's chin isn't as bad as it is often portrayed.
- Stitch Duran is Wlad's cutman and one of the best.
- Disappointing to hear Hearn say that Joshua will only be fighting twice a year now.
- Best HW fight since Vitali vs. Lewis.
- Joshua and his trainer McKracken did a good job getting through the KD.
- Martinez vs. JCC had a bigger crowd reaction (loudest he has heard) to the KD than Joshua-Klitschko.

The rest of boxing:
- Hasn't heard anything on Jermall Charlo. It is becoming that time where he needs a fight or is he another Haymon fighting sitting on the bench.
- Wilder's mandatory is Stiverne, but he could possibly do a step aside deal to fight Parker (assuming he wins).
- GB has recently signed Jezreel Corrales.
- Would like to see a Cotto vs. Trout rematch.
- Mikey Garcia vs. Terrence Crawford? Slim chance this year or next year.

We going to just neglect that it was Wilder's first fight after right hand and torn bicep shoulder....and he still KOd him in under 15 minutes, while it took Joshua longer to get rid of Breazeale? Same Breazeale who was being blanked by Mansour before the freak injury?:mjpls:
