What if Manny went out and beat Bradley, Vargas, Lomachenko, and Crawford.....and then retired. Would that ease the L he took from Mayweather in the eyes of the hardcore fan?:ohhh:

I say yes:ehh:

That would be a helluva a run to end a career, and while it wouldn't make up for the Mayweather loss, it would fully establish that Pacquiao was a clear cut #2 to Mayweather and it's not even close between him and the #3 Boxer of this era. Kinda like a 1) Jordan 2) Kobe and then the rest of the SGs in NBA History:wow:
Personally I view it the opposite for hardcore fans. Manny should have nothing to prove to the hardcore fan. If you don't view Pacquiao the second best and only to Floyd then most likely you fit into the uneducated fan.

The Floyd fight was Manny's chance to be number 1, he lost cleanly, but off resume and performances he deserves number 2.

If just the Floyd fight determined your opinion on Manny you are uneducated to his career...so victories vs. Crawford and Loma wouldn't mean much to that fan, because they probably don't even know who they are.

I actually find myself agreeing with @Black Jesus, Manny is at the point he can make whatever fight he wants and I don't think he deserves any criticism. If he wants to fight bums and collect paychecks, I honestly wouldn't be bothered by it. If he wants to continue and make fights vs. top fightes that is amazing, but at this point I don't require it of him. His legacy is set. Some wins or losses from here on out don't really change anything for me. Dude is an ATG on the final victory lap of a great career. His place in history is already cemented.

I don't think Manny is clearly ahead of Bernard Hopkins as the #2 fighter of this Era and it's not even close. ..I think Hopkins is right there behind him, maybe a few paces behind in the #3 slot

Wins over prime Oscar De La Hoya, prime Felix Trinidad, his middleweight run, continued success up into LHW for an extended period of time at 40+...they all keep Hopkins in the discussion imo. It's not a Floyd, Manny, & everybody else thing like it is a Jordan, Kobe, everybody else at SG thing:manny:

nah im tired of these double standards
roy jones was criticized for fighting bums when he was washed
floyd fought canelo pacquaio and maidana when he was pacquaios age

when he fought berto at 38 and everyone cried and complained, told him to fight ggg at 160 lol

hopkins was fighting elite compeition well into his 40s

theres nothing pacquaio can do really to increase his legacy. nothing he can really do to decrease it either. it is what it is at this point.

if you capable of fighting top opposition and you don't , just retire. dont disrespect the sport

if floyd came back to fight the jesse's vargas's of the world boxing fans would pass out.
