Views From The X
Just remembered that I told @GREENandYELLOW I'd fill in for him today to post that fat tub of lard's chat today. This chat was long as fukk but welp, here goes...

- Believes Klitschko vs Joshua is a tough fight for both fighters. AJ is young, strong, confident and has huge power. Wlad is not what he was at his best based on the last two performances, but "if he lands on AJ's chin good night."
- Does not think that Wlad is "shot". While he does think he fought like crap against Fury, he needs to see more evidence. Does not believe that one bad night =/= shot.
- Thinks Pacquiao will continue fighting after November 5th, regardless of the outcome of the Vargas fight
- Wants to see Manny fight Crawford next. Wanted it this November and even preferred the fight happened last April instead of a 3rd fight with Bradley
- Believes that Crawford can become a draw everywhere, not just in Omaha. Drew around 7k in Vegas and had a nice crowd in NY for a crap fight with Lundy. It takes time to build an attraction. Besides, it's no sin to be a draw in your hometown. That is a great thing.
- Thinks Bellew's win over Flores was nice, but not that great. But he can punch has a big personality
- Bellew vs Haye? Would love to see it, but believes if it were to happen that if would have to be at HW. Haye is not dropping to CW, and Bellew has a mandatory there.
- Most likely roadmap for Andrade, assuming he wins his fight in November? Nobody knows. The November fight has never even been formally announced and Dan doesn't understand why Andrade took such a meaningless fight with no US TV and a tiny purse. Just silly all the way around.
- Would he be in favor of adding a 225 lb weight class? No. Is in favor of eliminating some of the smallest weight classes, but not adding another one.
- Response to boxers threatening him? Let them threaten. They should stick to fighting, he will stick to writing and opining. They get paid to fight, he gets paid to write and opine.
- Doesn't "you know who" (Fres Oquendo) & Ustinov get a title shot before Lucas Browne? Oquendo is out of commission from major shoulder surgery. Unsure of what will happen with Ustinov now that the Ortiz fight isn't happening.
- Any truth to the news of J-Rock/Charlo being finalized for Dec 10? It will happen, just hasn't been announced yet.
- Isn't Klitschko above belts at this point in his career? Yes, but he wants the belts
- Believes B-Hop is one of the greatest to ever do it, and loves how he's made millions yet fights with the mentality of a guy who was broke and in prison. Wishes some of the younger fighters had B-Hop's mentality, believes the sport would be in a better place if they did.
- Nacho Beristain's greatest fighter? Probably Marquez. Is a huge Ricardo Lopez fan, but believes JMM's accomplisments surpass his.
- Pick for FOTY? Vargas-Salido
- Thinks Ward/Kovalev tickets are overpriced, has no idea how they're selling.
- Chances of Canelo-Cotto 2 in 2017 before GGG fight? Virtually 0%. Neither camp has mentioned it as something they're interested in.
- Chances of going back to weighing in at the day of the fight? Never
- Prime Vernon Forrest vs Prime Paul Williams? Williams in a great fight.
- Could Roy Jones Jr beat Marciano at HW? Yes. The RJJ that fought Ruiz would be an extremely difficult fight for Marciano due to Roy's tremendous speed advantage.
- Aaron Pryor vs Kostya Tszyu? Pryor in a great fight.
- Does he ever sense any bitterness from Roy Jones over how his career went south after losing to Tarver? None
- Believes there has to be a happy medium of fighters getting paid well and being radically overpaid like so many of the PBC fighters have been. Can understand where Danny is coming from though, because if you pay him x amount to fight Quillin it is natural to expect more to fight GGG. The problem is he was overpaid for Quillin as many fighters have been who do not draw huge crowds or giant ratings.
- Has no idea what Jacobs/Haymon would settle for, but there is no question that the GGG camp is willing to give them more than 25% but not the 40% they tried to get the WBC to change the purse bid split to. Believes the fight should easily be made on a 67-33 split.
- GGG wont fight until 2017 now because the Jacobs side has dragged things on so long.
- Doesn't think Danny Garcia needed a tune-up before his bout with Thurman. Complete waste of time fight.
- Harder puncher, AJ or Wilder? Wilder
- Will Chocolatito make it to 50-0? Good chance.
- Parker or Ruiz? Definitely Parker. Not a Ruiz guy at all and never have been. Good hand speed but not much else.
- Thinks Crawford vs Orozco is a nice fight, and definitely makeable as Orozco is the WBC mandatory.
- Believes Winky Wright is a definite HOFer and one of the best of his time.
- Winky vs Hearns at 154? Winky. Would outbox Tommy, also had great defense and a feel for the ring and would not have gotten caught clean by any of Hearns' bombs.
- Thinks lack of quality opponents prevented Roy Jones from being a PPV mega star in his prime.
- Broner's 4 division title wins vs Chocolatito's? Broner's 4 titles are all smoke and mirrors. Chocolatito beat real opponents.
- Would he rather see Crawford fight Troyanovsky or Orozco? Troyanovsky. Not well known over here but the dude can freaking punch and is a solid fighter. Orozco looked awful in his last fight. Prefers unification.
- What's next for Zurdo Ramirez? Zurdo has resumed training lightly after the injury but has nothing scheduled. Probably not back until early next year.
- Any news on what's next for Tim Bradley? Nothing. Of his own will, Tim did not pursue another fight this year. He hopes to be back in the 1st quarter of 2017. Would like to see him fight Cotto.
- Was Jermain Taylor always bad dude or did his troubles with the law stem from the result of the blows to the head? Does think the damage impacted his behavior. He was never a saint but he was a good dude. He became a lot more unstable as the years and knockouts mounted.
- Is Wlad fighting Browne for one title and way less money instead of Joshua for one belt and way more money a duck? Not at all. At age 40 and after a decade as champion fighting every single fighter of note (other than his brother, for obvious reasons) he is at a stage of his career where he can fight whoever the hell he wants.
- Quality of the Kovalev-Ward undercard? Poor so far but there is one more fight to add. That said I do not have high hopes at all.
- Which fights will you he attending next month? Booked for Pacquiao-Vargas and Kovalev-Ward.
- Who's the greatest fighter with a less-than-iron chin? Hearns is definitely up there. Maybe Roy Jones as we have found out in the last part of his career.
- Any news on Jarrell Miller's next fight? Will be the mandatory for the WBO belt after the Parker-Ruiz fight. Haye originally was but supposedly he turned down that position which would put Miller next in line.
- When will Mick Conlan make his pro debut? St. Patrick's Day in NYC
- Any word on Shakur Stevenson's debut? He has not yet signed with anyone and told him a few weeks ago he would not fight until at least January.
- What ever happened to GBP lawsuit versus Haymon? Still in litigation.
- Will Degale/Jack ever happen? Hopefully. But at this point not until at least early next year.
- When should we expect a decision from the WBA, and why would they NOT sanction the fight for Wlad v Joshua? WBA was supposed to announce its decision yesterday. Gilberto Mendoza Jr., the president of the WBA, told him later in the day they were still dealing with a few things and would announce it this afternoon.
- Is Spence still waiting on Brook? If so, is there a date that Brook has to decide by? Not specifically for Brook but for the order that the mandatory is due. He will fight for the title in his next fight be it vs. Brook or the vacant belt. Put your money on the vacant belt.
- Prime Pacquiao vs Pryor at 140? Fantastic fight. Toss up. Both fast, both great punchers. Both fearless.
- Any news on Lara's next fight? Like most of the PBC top guys, nada.
- Any word on Lomach-Walters' undercard? Nothing yet.
- Do he think HBO picking up the Luiz Ortiz fight in Monaco is their way of attempting to steal AJ from Showtime? Especially if Ortiz and AJ fight next summer? No. Thinks HBO had money in the budget, likes Ortiz and figured getting that fight for what he imagines was probably around 250k at most was a good way to have a decent piece of boxing programming to help promote the following week's Kovalev-Ward fight. They'll show promos for the PPV and then probably schedule the half-hour preview special on the fight to air before or after the fight. Any time there is an actual fight on the air and a boxing program follows it, the viewership of that special is helped significantly.
- Anything floating around for the final Kov-Ward undercard fight? The companies are supposed to make a fight between their fighters but nothing is done. There has been talk of having Clarissa Shields making her pro debut on the card but also nothing done.
- Jeff Horn said he wants Spence next, any chance that happens? If Brook vacates, yes.
- What's the most expensive fight ever on regular HBO? Back in the day HBO spent $10 million-plus on some fights.
- Any issues with the California Commission approving Mares for a fight given his eye problems? As long as he passes California's medical standards for eyes, then no. Thinks New York's threshold for vision is more than it needs to be.
- Any idea why the B-Hop's fight is in Cali instead of Philly? Golden Boy had the Forum set for Salido-Miura. Then the BHop fight came about and it was added to the card as the main event. When Salido-Miura fell out because of the injury they stayed at the venue since it was all set. Also, there was not really a good East Coast alternative, especially with Atlantic City (B-Hop's backyard) so dead.
- Any news on Chocolatito? He will probably not fight until around March and possible a rematch with Cuadras.
- Any truth to the rumors that Fox will pay PBC a rights deal? Heard that rumor but not buying it and definitely not at the silly numbers that go with that rumor.
- Wladimir Klitschko vs.Vitali Klitschko? Always said he'd favor Vitali. Many years ago he sat with Vitali in his trailer at the MGM Grand on the set of Oceans Eleven and asked him that in an interview. He said he disagreed, that Wladimir would beat him.
- Any truth to the rumors that AJ might fight Price next? Is Price ranked by the IBF? Price is ranked by the IBF. If there is no Wlad fight the options are slim. Hearn says he has been unable to make a deal with Pulev and of the other possible guys Price would at least be interesting to some Brits. It's a bad situation all the way around if there is no Wlad fight.
- If Joe Smith beats B-Hop, should he be named FOTY? Would have to give him an honorable mention. Believes as of now that title goes to Frampton.
- If Crawford beats either Troyanovsky or Orozco handily, does he have a legit shot at being named FOTY? In a down year, yes.
- What did HBO pay for Lewis-Klitschko? About 10 mil.
- Would like Crawford vs Felix Diaz alot
- Thinks Callum Smith has a lot of potential, but not ready to crown him yet. Likes what he's seen so far, but needs to see him beat a legit contender before getting excited.
- Doesn't know if Malik Scott took a dive against Wilder, but it looked very fishy to him.
- Picks Ortiz over Scott by early destruction.
- How many fights from the Monte Carlo card will be televised on HBO? One

true but i think youth will overcome this..Wlad will be sent to pasture by Femi :wow:

- Does not think that Wlad is "shot". While he does think he fought like crap against Fury, he needs to see more evidence. Does not believe that one bad night =/= shot.
Wlad is slowing down but hasn't expired yet

- Believes B-Hop is one of the greatest to ever do it, and loves how he's made millions yet fights with the mentality of a guy who was broke and in prison. Wishes some of the younger fighters had B-Hop's mentality, believes the sport would be in a better place if they did.
agreed..we also need someone like him as a trainer too

- Nacho Beristain's greatest fighter? Probably Marquez. Is a huge Ricardo Lopez fan, but believes JMM's accomplisments surpass his.
hmmm dont agree with this

- Pick for FOTY? Vargas-Salido
still the best fight ive seen all year

- Prime Vernon Forrest vs Prime Paul Williams? Williams in a great fight.
at what weight though 147 or 154? :patrice:

- Broner's 4 division title wins vs Chocolatito's? Broner's 4 titles are all smoke and mirrors. Chocolatito beat real opponents.

Sources close to the negotiations have indicated Browne is unhappy with the $1 million offered from the Klitschko side for a WBA title bout that would take place somewhere in Germany. Klitschko’s handlers withdrew from negotiations earlier this week with British promoter Eddie Hearn for a December 10 bout against Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) in Manchester, England.

The 40-year-old Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) reportedly wants to fight for the WBA title before pursuing a fight against Joshua either in the spring or summer. If negotiations cease with representatives for the 37-year-old Browne (24-0, 21 KOs) for a fight that would take place seven weeks from Saturday, Klitschko would need to find an opponent quickly in order to properly promote the event.

klitschko-browne_1.jpg

England’s Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs), who Klitschko was supposed to fight October 29 in Manchester, vacated the WBA heavyweight title last week because he is undergoing treatment for cocaine use and depression.

The WBA lists Klitschko as its No. 2 contender. Browne is ranked No. 5 by the WBA.

Russia’s Alexander Ustinov (33-1, 24 KOs) is ranked No. 3 by the WBA. Ustinov sits one spot ahead of Puerto Rico’s Fres Oquendo (37-8, 24 KOs), who hasn’t fought since July 2014.

Cuba’s Luis Ortiz (25-0, 22 KOs), the WBA’s interim heavyweight champion, is scheduled to make a title defense against Philadelphia’s Malik Scott (38-2-1, 13 KOs) on November 12 in Monte Carlo (HBO).

RTL, the German television station with which Klitschko has an exclusive contract, wants him to fight December 10 because it typically doesn’t televise live boxing during January or February. HBO Sports also has expressed interest in broadcasting Klitschko’s next bout, but the premium-cable channel also is exploring televising the Joseph Parker-Andy Ruiz WBO heavyweight title fight and a Terence Crawford fight on December 10.

@JohnnyTruant what's up with your boy breh?:snoop:

$1 million ain't enough for him to face Wlad? :dwillhuh:

During the World Boxing Organization's ongoing convention in Puerto Rico, Canelo expressed his interest in facing Cotto for second time next year.

"For me, it would be an honor to have a return fight with Miguel Angel Cotto. But let's see what happens. There have been no discussions about that [fight]. But let's see if it can be done," said Canelo to El Vocero.

Canelo is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. And Golden Boy's head matchmaker, Robert Diaz, said a rematch between Cotto and Canelo is one of the realistic options for the future.

"[2017] will be a great year for Canelo, the fans and for the fans of Canelo Alvarez. Yes [a rematch with Cotto] is definitely possible. The first was very good fight and who wouldn't like to see the rivalry between Mexico and Puerto Rico? We are very good friends with Miguel Angel Cotto, Bryan (Perez) and Hector (Soto). We are very close friends and Miguel is an exemplary sportsman," Diaz said.

When Cotto was approached about the subject, he said it's a matter that has to discussed and negotiated out.

"These types of things are discussed and then agreements are reached down the line. But as far as the immediate future of Miguel Cotto [and who I'm going to fight], I don't know what to say to right now, there's nothing official [on my next fight]," Cotto said to Jose Sanchez.

Cmon man...I thought it was 160 from here on out vs real Middleweights???:mindblown:

Hopefully Crawford faces either him or Imam. Both would be good name matchups:obama:

Bob Arum is already cooking up a possible match-up between Terence Crawford and Manny Pacquiao in 2017 if Pacquiao prevails on Nov. 5 against Jessie Vargas and Crawford wins his Dec. 10 planned match, the veteran promoter told RingTV.com on Friday.

“If Manny wins the fight and funny enough with Crawford going again in December, it’s possible to do an April fight if Manny and Crawford are successful,” Arum said in a phone interview. “Crawford against Manny — that’s a possibility. That would be a great match.”

Aum is currently in talks to put Crawford on HBO on Dec. 10 after Gennady Golovkin moved off the date to continue negotiations with Danny Jacobs. Arum has tried to give Crawford a shot at Pacquiao before. However, Pacquiao’s side chose to face Vargas instead on Nov. 5, leaving Crawford without a dance partner.

Now, Arum is trying to resurrect the idea again.
Yet the Vegas-based promoter isn’t limiting himself to just fighters he promotes as potential Pacquiao opponents. He also spoke optimistically on Friday of working with Al Haymon’s stable and a little cryptically of not having to deal with HBO again on future pay-per-view cards. Arum seemed emboldened to usher Haymon into his fold and co-promote with Haymon with his company, Top Rank distributing Pacquiao-Vargas on PPV next month instead of HBO. Arum and Haymon had preliminary discussions about matching Adrien Broner with Pacquiao for November before Broner priced himself out.

“I talked to Haymon before I made the Vargas fight about Adrien Broner, who he couldn’t control,” Arum said. “But he has some other welterweights — (Danny) Garcia could be a good opponent. (Keith) Thurman could be a good opponent. I mean, there’s no more boundaries now for Showtime fighters and HBO fighters. As far as I’m concerned, we’re having a great experience doing our own pay-per-view and there’s no real reason for premium networks to get involved in pay-per-view"

Is Pacquiao going to pick another opponent....for the 3rd straight time?:sas2:

I'd rather him face Diaz. I wanna see Imam build himself up because I feel Imam/Crawford could be a big fight

Imam is already at #2 in the WBC, so he's knocking on Crawford's door right now. I think Imam can wait a little longer too, get him a B class JWW on his resume first, but if he thinks he's ready...I say give him a shot.

I wouldn't pick anyone against Crawford at 140 right now outside of :aboutbillions:, but I wouldn't turn my nose up at Crawford/Imam....even though I would prefer Crawford/Diaz as my #1 choice as well:obama:

Wish Bhop did more media. Loved him on sway. Reminded me of the old black guys at the barbershop dropping gems. I like Bhop talking more than boxing, thats how much of a jewel I think he is as a person.

When Bhop speaks the young fighters listen, as they should.
