Roc Nation Sports is working on a fight for former super middleweight champion Andre Ward (29-0, 15 KOs) on July 30 (HBO) at the Oracle Arena in his hometown of Oakland, California, but the opponent is not set. However, the leading candidate, former light heavyweight titleholder Nathan Cleverly (29-3, 15 KOs), of Wales, probably will not be his foe. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, Cleverly’s promoter, told ESPN.com that Cleverly probably will challenge Germany’s Juergen Braehmer for his secondary light heavyweight word title instead. Hearn said they have been “waiting and waiting on Ward” and instead will look to fight Braehmer in September. Hearn said the fight is “not done yet but likely.” Ward is taking a supposed tune-up fight before a November HBO PPV showdown with unified titleholder Sergey Kovalev, who is fighting his own interim bout against Isaac Chilemba on July 11 (HBO) in Ekaterinburg, Russia
